My punto 1.4 gp has started to on the odd occasion when starting to make a loud whineing noise, if tunred off and back on the sound countiues until the engine is reved, only 2500 miles on the clock and ideas and will it be a dearlship job ?????

I know you said it was a whining noise but when I got mine last year, after 3 months ownership, it started to whine/squeek on startup mostly in cold conditions but sometimes when it was warm.

I rang the dealer and they took it in, a week later I was back at the dealership having a new alternator fitted as FIAT said there was a defect with the belt but due to mine having air con, they had to change the whole unit.

Least I got a 500 to play around with the day for and the repair was covered by warranty!

Had this problem on my 1.4 took if in to the garage and was told "we cannot fault it... It's just the engine noise" odd considering it never done it when I bought the car and now only does it when cold. They didn't seem too interested IMO especially as I've got a clicking noise coming from the front left wheel and they never even bothered to take the wheel off. Recon I'll take another trip over soon when the cars dirty again as at least it got a wash and Hoover.
