Hi I am looking at buying a used evo sporting 1.4 petrol, what sort of mpg do they do on town work or short journeys and is there any problems with the sporting I should be aware of ? The reason for a petrol is I have just sold my fiesta zetec s tdci which I bought brand new and the dpf packed up which cost me £550 to have it replaced the car was just over 5month old and ford don't cover the dpf and the car had 4.5 k on the clock so back to a fiat and petrol, any advice would be great

I haven't got a sporting but a dynamic. My mpg is alright about 44mpg and I can normally do 300 miles + on a full tank. You do notice a big differnce if you drive a bit more steady than flooring it everywhere! Not sure if it was any help! :D

My sporting only really does B roads and averages around 38-40mpg. To be honest I could drive a little more economically but if I was to do that all the time what would be the point of buying a turbo?
I haven't had any real problems, the only real niggle has been the Blue&me has stopped talking to the tomtom and Fiat are changing the control unit under warranty. Oh, and it's useless in snow! A pair of snow socks work wonders.

I can't really help with the Evo details other than to say it seems to be mostly Start/Stop Unavailable messages due to software or sensor issues plus the odd bit of loose trim. It seems a vast improvement from the Grande Punto in that respect.

However, how the hell did you let Ford get away with saying 'we don't cover the DPF'?! It's a new car, 5 months old & needs £550 spent on it - there's no way on Earth i'd be paying Ford anything for a repair like that. Now i remember why i didn't buy one - they tried a similar trick with a mate on his 3 year old & 25k mile Focus. And people think Fiat are bad! :(

Better luck with the Evo, i think it's fair to say a year old Sporting will represent very good value but be wary that a new 2012 model with a Grande Punto style front will be available in the next few months & this may hit the values of the Evo, so haggle!

i have a sporting 135 multiair and love the car except one thing that it only a 5 speed gearbox..otherwise i find no faults ...average 40 mpg with a little restraint
but can be 45 at motorway speeds ..find the start/stop useful as so many red lights round my way ..previously had a grande m jet and this is far better build and quality
car to drive

Thanks for that guys, viewing a 10 plate in white with 2 owners and 9k on the clock for £8295
