I've had my evo for about 10 months now, and ever since I've had it there been this really irritating rattle coming from the front left side of the car, any time I have the radio on. Stripped the door and checked all the fastenings and I even replaced the speakers but the noise is still there :bang: When I took it to the dealership, they said theres nothing wrong (what did I really expect?) but the sound is STILL there! Anyone have any clues as to what this might be please? :(

sorry for the topic change but were the front speakers the usual round 6.5 inch jobbies and were they screwed or riveted in?
I'm also getting a slight rattle from the left side but it's definitely the door trim, if I put a little pressure on it, it stops.

I also have a rattle to the left side, i've moved things & fiddled with things but nothings made it stop.... figured it was a "feature not fault"

Interesting that others have it!

It does seem as though it is door trim as I also found that putting pressure around the area eliminates the sound. Also, the speakers are the same width and riveted in, just a little deeper than the standard ones. I'm gonna try what Andy suggested and see if theres any improvement...

Do you find it more prominent with the stereo at a good volume or just there in general?

Just seems to generally be there stereo on or not, although it's worth noting a separate sound-based rattle it doesn't seem to like certain tones and causes things to rattle which irritates me to no end, i can listen to drum & bass happily pretty well, then listen to some red hot chili peppers at a good volume and it causes dodgy rattling noises..... But i figure that's to do with the speakers [which i'd love to change but don't know sizes & im too scared to rip the car apart] and maybe some sound deadening would resolve that, rather than an actual car fault.

Anyways..

mines not loud enough to annoy me but i do hear a small rattle coming from what sounds like is from the passenger seat belt kind of position when doing 25-40mph but I've never been able to track it down but it does make me think Hmm, what is that!?!

(No, its not the seatbelt.. just sounds like its in that kind of area)

I don't know if it happens at motorway speeds, but I imagine the wind noise drowns it out (Surprised they didn't minimize that)

I've had this problem for ages and its worse in winter when the car is cold and the heaters are on!

I've narrowed it down to the cup holder in the door. It's not moulded to the door panel and there is a very small gap and it's this that keeps rattling/chattering.

I've had my drivers door card replaced twice and it's still the same. My solution is to put a thin strip of rubber or foam in the gap of the cupholder and hopefully this will stop the rattle. I've not done mine yet, i've been meaning to do it for ages and now i'll think i'll get onto it.

I just think its a poor design!

I also have annoying rattle in front passenger door. Some of the recommendations in this thread may be true but I found that when I lowered the front passenger window a cm or two the rattle went away! There is definitely something loose and I'd prefer to isolate it before speaking to the dealer who will try and get out of fixing it.
