After just 7 months and 4451 miles my differential has gone bang and therefore need a new gearbox, it is the 1.4 litre 16 valve multi-air engine with the 6 speed gearbox, fiat are doing everything they can to blame me so that they don't have to pay out for it on warranty, has this happened to anybody else? And does anybody know a fiat only breakers yard that might have a new punto

A Dealer rarely points the finger unless the facts show a distinct possibility the car has been thrashed (it's easier to let Fiat pick up the bill). Those facts being engine data (like time spent on the limiter) and more obvious stuff like excessive tyre wear.
