JTD's don't have a throttle body but they do have something that looks similar thats used to prevent over run if I remember correctly.

Strangely, on a petrol car it's known as an anti dieselling valve.

Is it called the "Shut off valve"?

Yep.... could be. Probably known by different names by different people.

The ePER calls it a "Throttle Body".

Checked for both our cars using their VIN numbers, Fiat Stilo and the Alfa 147 both comes up "Throttle Body".

So may be diesels do have throttle bodies after all .. ?

ePER descriptions are not always accurate. It calls an oil seal a "gasket", and a radiator hose a "sleeve" for example.

I hope the one on our car never fails.

I hate have to go in to a parts department and ask for "a thingy" ..

That's why they have diagrams on ePER.... you just point at the bit you want.

I spend my whole life doing this, this makes life incredibly easy as i never have to remember what anything is called.
