for my next car wot do people think im gonna keep the punto for a track car but wot road car shall i get

A Punto would make a crap track car unless it was heavily modified.

If I'm right (and I may not be as your sentence makes little sense) you want our opinions on whether your next car will be a Fiat, BMW or a VW? What's the point of this poll? Do you really think anyone cares if your next car is a BMW? Is it even possible? What age are you, how many years no claims have you got, can you insure a BMW?

yes ive drove 1 i know its slow but its rear wheel drive :worship: so i can get some sideways drivin (y)

there made well i know working for a bmw independant specialist bm tec.for 4 years and i did get sideways in one once on an icy road he he well its up to you pal if anything go for the compact ti if insurance will allow i only like bms from 2.8 up now there fun, old m5 favourite, they go sideways ive got mk2 golf 2.0 tsr prepped 188 bhp and uno turbo mk2 get something with a blower

If you seriously want to have a track car then you need something reliable and cheap to maintain for the roads, unless of course you're made of money.

Fiat diesel for the roads and then it leave you with all the time and money to spend on the track car.

Tipo for the track, Marea for the roads.

VW drivers - normally aragunt and they are a lot of money for what they are

BMW 1.6, well 1.6 say no more, i am sure you could get a car that has real wheel drive but more power for less money!

Fiat's - well they have come on a lot, We all drive Fiats so what are we most likely to say??

Have fun choosing your next car though. (y)

something diesel, and tow bar. ideal for everyday driving and moving your track-car

Not only diesel but heavy too. To tow a 1000kg car on a 200kg trailer you will need at least a 1200kg car. Marea diesels are ideal, especially weekend models which have space for spare tyres, parts, fuel, tools etc.

2.4JTD version has a braked trailer load of 1400kg! That should be suficient to tow a trailer with almost any performance Fiat on it.

I had a 316i Compact, good looking car but couldnt pull the skin off a rice pudding! put some 17's and Mtech kit on her and looked the bee's knee's but really was slow.
VW BorING you mean not Bora. Need we say more!
Fiat..... so many to choose from at a much cheaper option too, including the insurance!
Go for Fiat, more modding stuff, cheaper to run and easier to maintain by a long way!
stick with what you know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

yeah i was kinda following up on what you had said about marea. would the stilo not be heavy enough? the estate version.

or that new 4x4 sedici thing :chin: if he wants a new car, looks like a good tool from what i saw of it

The 316i is slow and gay. They only start being fun at 2.0

The Bora can look nice when complete but the smaller engined ones are also gay.

If your going to get a small engine make sure its in a small car as that way you wont have so much weight to carry.

bmw 318ti compact isn't slow, its got 140bhp. thats what you want, well ok what i want. much better than a 316, especially if you get a 316 saloon, they are gay, and bottom of the range anything is always a bad choice.

rear wheel drive and engines the right way round is what attracts me to a bmw, its a driver's car, and its well built, shame its so german.

you'll get that bmw tosser reputation driving one. admit it, what do you do when a bmw is up your arse on a motorway? you slow down just to **** him off, then when he tries to undertake you put your foot down and stay along side him. there's nothing better than getting a tosser annoyed.

a 316 compact with 17" wheels and lowered is slow. It is a heavy car remember and it takes a lot to get it going. they look good and it has a good reputation (just remember parts are as nice a price though depending on how well you get on with the trade)
Stick with the Fiat's! maybe not the name but a damn sight better to modify and play around with!

If you want most out of a track day then no less than a powerful 2ltr (anything less and ull most likly aget fed up of it taking forever to get to the next corner or becoming a moving bollard.
Fwd are the safer version and cheaper/loads to choose form though less challenging as a Rwd.

Use the beemer as the track day car, strip it,lightly mod it for tracks like decent tyres, wheel aliments, better air filter etc.Cant remember if its a compact if it is good cos its ass is less over hanged over the back axle which makes the back wheels keep in line (less unwanted/unexpected oversteer).

Get use to it and tracks then start to think about bigger engines buyin out of auto trader if you feel lucky or light for money but best will be a breakers yard as it should be tested and will have a warranty.
Bewarned that thou the vanos type system has more power it is more fragile and itll cost over a grand to fix it cos its a bugger to get at and itll break other parts of the engine.
Try to find out if its been serviced on time, cams belts or (including the VANOS) chains in this case dont last much longer than stated in the handbook requires.

I'm confused - is the BMW driver a tosser because he's chosen a BMW (A car which in 3 or 5 series form is one of the class leaders), or are you the tosser for deliberately holding someone up and then trying to impede their progress?
I agree this poll makes little sense though. BMW 316 - Are you talking about the previous version, or the first version?
"A Fiat"? There's a huge range, with many sizes of car, covering a huge period.
And why make the Punto into a track car? Because it's what you happen to have now? Why not get something with a better track reputation?
