Where is Castle Combe ?

Trouble is, there's such a wide range of cars from 899cc cinqs to 1.6 stilos to 2.4 abarths to coupes, it definitely wouldn't be a race!

Spoilsport... I'm sure everybody would want to try and have a competitive lap time for their class of car. I'd definatly be interested, but I've not got any wheels... perhaps I'll bring my mountain bike?

One more thing.. you might want to get some definate (sp?) info so if enough people are interested you can organise it well.

lol, you on your pushbike? I'll bring mine ;) I know people would be competitive between their own specs but no point getting carried away that it would be a nice big race.

Don't you need a number of things to do a trackday like that? If not, I'd be interested but since I only have my car until September, it's not going to happen!

http://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/ find where it is here!

The idea of a track day is to have fun and get to know your own car better, where its limits lie etc and anyway your not allowed to overtake on large sections of the track appart from the straights.

Having taken my integrale round Combe (yes Jamie you had to push me into it) I can confirm it is a good track with a couple of great chicanes and long straights so yes the more powerful cars would have an advantage but the better drivers or better set up cars will show on the bends. And you get sent out 10secs or so apart so you always find on track days you end up finding a similar speed car and have your own little battles .

Good idea tho!

Aaron.

The SFC Sporting Fiats Club have a trackday on August at 'combe so that would be a good one to join in on.

Remember it isn't a race - you need big bucks, licence overalls and a prepped car for real racing.

I have experience in organising track day attendance if you are serious I will look into it.

cheers
R

You look as though you could handle yourself on the tight bends ! ;)

Yeah I managed to get it on a google map and it's about 70-80 miles from me.
Not sure if i'd wanna thrash the car on a track mind or take any risks with it but i'd be up for a day out and a nice leasurely drive round the circuit :D Yeah right (y)

hiya, id be up for that, id would go but i probly wouldnt take my sei on the track. i only live avoput 15 miles from combe any way. sounds likea good plan

...i'm no racing expert, but I don't think that a track would let us race, especially with the factors to take into account, differences in cars capabilities, differences in peoples abilities. The adrenaline rush would be great, but that wouldn't make you an F1 driver, one wrong move and how would you tell that to your insurers, oh yes I rolled it coming out of a sharp bend and ended up embedded in the tyre wall, or the risks of taking someone elses car out..insurance void me thinks

Doing a few laps behind a pace car or something sounds cool, but I wouldn't fancy anything competitive as I'd fear for my car too much :)

Yeah but thats why Bens letting us drive his car :D (y)

I'd love to go for a Sprint round the Track at Mad speeds but I don't think we'd be allowed to actually set up a race, don't Track days have speed limits imposed and other not race type rules such as no overtaking?

That one they use on Top Gear seems good but its in Germany or something

Also I don't know if I'd risk the Tipo on the Track, If I was rollin in dough then def but if anything happens I'll be fooooked. racing is sometimes a contact sport ;)

I don't think I'd pay to drive round a race track at the normal motorway speed limit and not be allowed to overtake.... you could have more cheaper fun on the motorway :D
