My wife's 2007 1.2 has just had the clutch pedal go to the floor. It needs a new master cylinder.

But the prices have gone ballistic. :eek:

Has anyone found a cylinder only that will fit the car, rather than having to get the prefilled cylinder and pipe kit? The prices are £100 higher for the full pipe versions than for just a cylinder alone.

I got into ePER. The part number is 55187040 but definitely includes the line and the cylinder.

The image is probably a library item so we will have to see what happens.

On my 2010 Panda I fitted the master cylinder alone (55225453) which is technically for the Fiat 500 but I compared with the one I took off the car and it was indistinguishable (externally at least). The cylinder alone costs £56 from the same supplier as above for a genuine part. But as you know, you won't have a new pipe which includes one half of that pesky hydraulic quick-connect,
 
The 500 one is identical, although a different part number due to being supplied without the pipework.

There were a couple of threads about this a few years ago, when I changed mine. I used a 500 one, found cheap at that time (sorry). Examination of the parts showed them to be identical, including bore size.

I've bled the system (need a new slave as well) so its ok for a few days.

I ordered the master as posted. It shows the correct part number so if it's wrong it's their mistake. For the 100HP, I paid £75 for the cylinder and pipe which is bad enough. But £115 or more is plain daft money.

Regarding the nasty QD connector, I might have found a repair connector. It looks like a smaller version of a plumber's compression fitting. I need to measure the pipe to confirm the size.
 
The clutch hydraulic pipework is 8mm OD with quite a thick wall. I replaced the QD with a couple of hydraulic straight union rated for 100bar (part number pMSC8L). No ferrules needed as the pipe wall was easily strong enough to swage the union onto. To avoid stressing the pipes around the union and to make sure I could get it onto a clean straight bit of pipe I had to insert an extra section of pipe (hence I needed 2 unions). I cut that from my old slave cylinder pipework and formed it into the perfect shape with a hot air gun. No more nasty QD.
 
You definitely need the connector which is intended for hydraulic systems. 8mm brass compression fittings will fit but they can't take the pressure that will be developed by the master cylinder in these systems.

Thanks. I suspected something more substantial would be needed.

I'm going to check with HEL (their factory is near me) to see if they have the end fittings. Braided PTFE/stainless is overkill but their prices are very reasonable.
