Got an 05 plate Eleganza 1.2 which had an intermittent issue with not being able to adjust the heating from car to screen. Ive pressed the buttons but cannot hear the motors moving the louvers. The button for the air flow from outside to re circulate air is working. Has anyone else had tis problem and how did you cure it.
To be honest im about at the end of my tether as so far this year, marmites had over £1,000 in repairs and a service from hell itself! :bang:
Due to her low mileage is the only reason ( and wife!!!) is the only reason whist I've kept it.

Any suggestion other than crush it would be appreciated:rolleyes:

It's probably a heater flap. The gears strip so the flaps wont move. There is a thread on the subject regarding 100HP heaters (same equipment).

It's probably not something a garage can do at affordable costs.

:yeahthat:

Sadly this is a major job if done by the book; getting proper access to the heater box involves stripping out most of the interior forward of the front seats and removing both doors. Some folks have managed to bodge an improvised repair by pegging the flap to the shaft, but that won't work if the gears themselves have stripped.

Given the age and value of the car, I doubt a full repair would be justified, either in time or money. If it were mine, I'd buy a couple of demisting rags and a wooly coat for winter (in case it fails outright), and just keep using it as it is, to try to get some value from the ££££ recently spent on it.

After all, when I started motoring, a heater would have been an optional extra on what would have been an equivalent car of the day. ;).

You can get a 12V 200 watt fan heater for about £10 that will keep the screen clear of mist while the engine warms up. Back in the day I had a heater element bar that stuck to the screen with rubber suckers. The VW van had a terrible heater but the funny strip thing did the job even in mid winter.
