Hello fellow 100HP owners

In the last week the 100HP had a full service including 4 new tyres and wheel alignment.
It now seems to have the most awful wobble coming from the rear at speeds over 40mph and pulls quite badly to the left when you release the steering wheel.
I took it back to the garage and the tyre pressures were way high for a start. After the pressures were corrected they swapped the front and rear wheels around (did they need to as it has 4 new tyres on?) and re-checked the alignment.
It no longer pulls to the left and seems a bit better at low speed but again once you go around 40/50 mph or more and start moving the wheel it's jelly time at the rear of the car.
Could it be worn bushes/suspension or anything like that?

grateful for any advice.

How about bad balancing, or even a badly made tyre?
Are they budget tyres?

The old saying is usually true. 'LAST THING CHANGED IS FIRST THING SUSPECT'.

Before suddenly suspecting suspension, bushes, tracking or the like, double check the tyres - they were the last thing changed.

The tyres are Toyos and seem to be at least equal quality to the ones that came off. I might have the balancing checked at another place to make sure.

Sounds like two different things.

Assuming it was ok before.

Pulling to one side is most likely tracking, the fact that they did the tracking and it pulled, then re-tracked it and it didn't, suggests they did a poor job the first time. There's no saying if the second attempt was any better, but I'd wager not.

Wobble is most likely wheel balance or a buckled wheel. As above, budget tyres? If they can't get the tracking right, can they balance wheels?

Take it somewhere else.

I had the alignment and balance re-checked at another garage and it still persists. The tyres are Toyo brand. The fitter at the second garage suspects that the car isn't happy with directionals on the rear so we are going to try some non-directional Acceleras tomorrow.

Try Tyre Pros they sorted mine out. Proper Tyre Professionals just as it says.

Note that Fiat 100HP alloys are made of plasticine!!! They really do bend very easily. Check the inside rim is round and that it also is running true. It is highly unlikely to be a bushing issue. Check the axle spring seats has / have not been damaged by inappropriate jacking / jack placement. Check dampers. A failed damper on one side can play havoc. Also check rear wheel bearings. Good luck.

PS I had Toyos on for over 50K miles and rate them very highly. You may however have a faulty tyre of one damaged on fitting.

I have had the rear tyres on mine go 50p shaped even though the wheels are straight and they were Avon’s.

Over my lifetime, I've had two brand new cars delivered with tyres so out of round that all four had to be replaced under warranty in the first few weeks of ownership. Tyres like this are unbalanceable and the only cure is replacement.

An update : Wheels had been swapped front to back with no difference.
Tried non directional tyres on the back and no different. Currently having the shock absorbers replaced today so we'll see how that goes.

Further update.

The rear shock absorbers were replaced and this has totally solved the problem.
It's back to it's old self.
