After months of searching. Ive finally tracked down some roof bars. I don't want to wreck them, so how do I fit them?

I'm wanting to simply pull the ends of (thinking they are just caps) then bolt them into the hole and push the end caps on.

Or is there a special clip I have to feel for inside to release the ends?

(please see pics - I hope I have attached these screenshots correctly)

Many thanks

I'll fit them....on my car!. (y)

I think you just have to prise them off,the caps will be stiff to remove as they are designed to to only put on a car once.

The end caps are quite tight. Best is to have someone holding the bar firmly, then prise the edges carefully apart to release the caps.
Then just place the bars carefully on the roof and 4 M6 bolts hold them down. The bolts are quite short, don't bottom them in the holes. Try them in the holes without the bars to get a feel.

Thanks.

So a mate holds the bar and I just wrap my fingers around each edge and pull towards me? (see shot where my thumb is).

Also the plugs that are currently in. I presume they are thread plastic and you simply insert screwdriver and turn anti-clockwise to remove them?

That's about it. Move the cover only a little outwards, then lift gently. The outer end has some clip inside that I think just unhooks, so back a little and lift. Some of mine broke, does not seem to affect its fitting afterwards. You may be able to see them under the bottom while the bars are off.

I assume you mean the plugs in the roof. In the roof are threaded holes, so the plugs should just unscrew from these.
