there are a couple of dealerships near me in crewe such as audi,bmw,mini,vauxhall,VW,nissan and i think renault

i went to vauxhall to enquire about plastic wheel bolt covers (yknow the black ones)

and i was shocked at the price and so was the guy at the counter

they wanted nearly £3 per cover!!

where can i get some from? havent tried ebay so gonna go there soon
 
If you're using them, clean things up first and blob a little grease on before pushing them home they seem to rust yer nuts rapid :eek:
 
The covers don't, but the crud they trap beneath them seems to accelerate rust promotion. Just saying that's what I found out the hard way before doing as I suggested and applying a little grease over the cleaned nuts.
 
I didnt bother with any grease I just put them straight on. To be honest I cant see anything getting under them as they were a really tight fit. I paid £10 for a set of 20 black chrome covers and they came with 2 removal tools.
 
Well I'd take them off for a quick check now and again, mainly the fronts. I suspect it's the heat generated by the brakes causing the nuts to "sweat" under the plastic. As there's less chance of evaporation, it being captive, so to speak, mine used to rust up quickly. Relatively. Mind, it was an oldish MK1 Escort and already 3/4 rust anyway......

Edit: Black chrome? Any chance of a link to the seller you got them from?

Yeah no problem mate I can give you link. HOWEVER I cant seem to find a listing from them for the 17mm covers I bought. Not sure if they are sold out or not but the link gives a list of what they do now. I cant recommend them enough either, free postage and I got them next day.
