Just had a call from my elderly inlaws 260 miles away. They bought a brand new Panda Dynamic just a few weeks ago - done about 500 miles and gearbox has locked up. AA could not budge it and so we will call dealers in Cornwall tomorrow. Car is now blocking someone else in on drive - don't understand why AA could not lift front wheels and move it a few yards?

2 questions - I have seen other issues but not quite this one with the auto gearbox - does anyone have any experience - it will not select any gear.

Also - Fiat Assurance - do you get replacement car with first year AA cover from fiat?

probably just the brake switch (take it out and reset it yourself if you or anyone nearby is capable?

replacement car? you mean courtesy car while its getting fixed? (AA rovides that although they dont exactly go out of their way to inform you of this)

thanks - AA are there now struggling and on phone to technical - have tried to pass on message re brake switch - where is it and how do you get at it - or is this something obvious to AA?

Not sure of problem now - car lifted to dealer. Will post outcome later.

Just got back from Cornwall - original problem was that car would not start not gear selection problem as stated in first post- it took Fiat dealer 4 hours to trace a improperly seated multiplug behind dash board.

Seems to be working now - not good on brand new car.

brakeswitch multiplug probably?

Sorted now then, not much help I know but apperently most faults 'surface' in the first 4 weeks?

Thanks for your help - just surprised that diagnostics do not show up something for a problem like this - electricians trawling through wiring system does not seem correct to fault trace these days and that the computer would at least pint to problem area.

thats often the problem though mate, people rely too much on the computer!

I got a little question to you. I would appreciate it if you can help me solve my problem out. because I really start to hate this car.

here is the thing. I owe a 2005 1.2 panda duologic and I have the massage on the screen 'gearbox fail'. this following problem occured. The engine doesn't work under load. It can start when the gear is 'N'. but when I take it to the '1' gear. If I don't give full gas, the engine stops immediately. even if I give gas, it stops too. the same problem is there by slowing down too. The gear comes from '3' to '2' to '1' and when the car almost stops, the engine stops again.

I am really begging you. I would be very happy if you give me any suggestion to solve it. It seems electronical failure. thank you.
