Hi guys,

I'm new here after spending a while contemplating a 500 I decided to get the better car and go for a Panda 100HP ;)

I'm popping to the garage tomorrow to order a new pre-reg (£7700+ paint options!) and was wondering if anyone knows how long these things take to arrive? I have to sell off my old car but it needs some things doing to it if I leave it much longer!

Very excited but still can't decide on a colour... Inbetween Black/Red/Grey at mo :( and does anyone know if you can spec the red brake callipers or what the cost might be?

Cheers for any advice, look forward to chatting with you guys in the future! :)

Jim.

you dont order a pre reg. if the dealer has one it will be in stock and already registered, the dealer will be the first owner.
try fiat super save, they have got a special on the 100 hp, 08 plates brand new....
i got my pre reg 100 hp in august 07 and paid £8995, prices have dropped like a stone, it,s a buyers market.

FSS advertise 58 plates for £7295 currently. You'd need to push them to get any clarification on delivery dates tho. There will be cars in the pipeline or on an airfield somewhere that Fiat dealers can pull from, register it in their name, and sell on. There may be some ruling from Fiat as to how long the car has to be registered with the dealer before they can sell it on, so watch you don't end up buying a car thats been stood around for a long time.

Well the dealer I spoke to only has a demo model in stock but said he could order me a new one in for £7700 which I guess would be a pre-reg as they've sold batches before at that price. I'm not too worried if it's been sat for a while as long as it has the red logo's so I at least know it's not a 2007 model.

I'll see what they say and if it sounds like hassle I'll give FSS a call, the main reason I was going to them in particular is that they are pretty local and were gonna take my car in PX but I now have a car dealer mate who will buy it cash for more than the PX price they offered...

Cheers for the info!

I emailed FiatSupaSaver about the Panda Cross and they were pretty clear that it would be a factory order with a 12 week wait for delivery.
It's more likely that Fiat will have some 100HPs awaiting sale in this country though.
If you are not trading in your old car then you really should speak to FiatSupaSaver and maybe save yourself £405. Your local dealer still has to do warranty work. In fact, the dealers make more profit on servicing and warranty work than on sales so they won't be in a huff with you if you buy from elsewhere.

I went the pre-reg route though ended up as first owner as far as i can tell. It was just a matter of the dealer doing a nationwide search for the car with teh spec I wanted that was in stock.

Took just under 3 weeks from order to collection.

:bang: as said by POD, a pre-reg is a pre registered car. They don't order these, nor can you get factory fit options on your purchase.

I doubt highly that there are any 58 plates available to by currently as pre-reg's, they'll all be 57 plates and 08's (y)

Not necessarily. I ordered a pre-reg in August and got a 58 plate car with 18 miles on the clock on 4th September. Also doesn't appear to be pre-reg, though I got the pre-reg price. (y)

Hmmm, sounds strange to me, but as long as you got it at the cheaper price, I can't see any reason to complain.

Because technically any car with under 20 miles on the clock is NEW. If it has over 20 miles on the clock they can't sell it as NEW! A thing worth remembering buy everyone buying new. If it has over 20 miles, it's classed as used, and should be sold as pre-reg or ex-demo etc (y)

I think a lot of dealers are selling new cars as pre-reg.

As I understand it if the car has already been registered by a dealer then its a pre-reg even if its only got one mile on the clock.

Mine ended up being transported to the dealer and they registered it for me so it was a brand new car, but still at the pre-reg price. Mine was literally registered the day I picked it up.

The way I see it, a pre-registered car is just what it says, prior to you taking ownership it has been registered to another individual or company. This is usually a dealer but can be a financial concern or a car importer. Therefore you will appear on the V5C as the second keeper of the vehicle. This is said to potentially reduce the vehicle's value in the future but I've never had this problem. Vehicle manufacturers often have rules that insist that pre-registered cars are not sold on within 3 months but dealers get round this by retaining the V5C for 3 months.
There really isn't such a thing as a pre-registered price for a car, the cost of a pre-registered car is set by the dealer at what he thinks he can sell it for. What Trackdayqueen probably bought was a new car at a considerable discount and from Fiat UK stock or another dealer. Hence a lower price and a wait for delivery that was much shorter than the 12 week wait for a factory order.
I may sound pedantic but this issue seems to be causing some debate here.

welcome,
grey and red are nice, but so far the rarest has to be the black, hardly seen any, just a pain to keep clean, as for the calipers, sort yourself an afternoon, a can of £5 red hammerite smooth and save yourself some money ;) PS good choice over the 500 :)

Well placed my order for a 100hp today with Fiatsupasaver (I went for a test drive at the Pewsham garage they deliver to!).

Gone for the "standard" Electroclash grey, not adventurous but the black didn't look so special at the garage since the rain had taken the lustre off and I'm not the most fastidious cleaner of cars ;) Would have liked the red as I think it looks best but my girlfriend can't stand it so went for the safe option! £7670 inc the paint.

I have concerns but am hoping I adapt - economy aside (inc tax and insurance) it seemed to be lacking compared to my 10 year old Audi A3 1.8t in every department, ride especially. Stereo poorish, odd high up seating position, fairly numb controls and the roof lining seems to be made of paper :) (not that that's a huge concern!) I'll put some of it down to a wet and dreary day after work though since I was pretty tired :)

My main worry is the speedbumps that have bred like mad over the last few years in my town (Swindon) and from other comments here is "doesn't do" speedbumps! Fingers crossed if I drive carefully over em it will all be fine, the test car also had only 150 miles on it so I guess it will loosen up! (also if they have the pressures set at the factory default of what seems to be 40psi that won't have helped ;))

I'm sure once I've had it a week or so and gotten used to it I'll love it though! Always odd jumping from car to car, anyhoo mines got 106k on the clock and needs £750 of work so had to buy a new motor and I can't see anything else near the price that compares... Oh, the aircon was awesome though ;)

Why the hell did you buy it

All you've listed there is how you aren't happy with what it has to offer

If it doesn't suit you then don't buy it

Good choice of colour. I like them all, but I think Electroclash is best at not showing the dirt (although I clean mine every couple of weeks at least!). It's just the wheels that let the side down after a few days dirtwise. Gave it a bath today though, so looks like the day I picked it up just over a year ago (y)

Hope you enjoy it!

We have vastly different experiences! ;) The 1998 A3 1.8T (150bhp?) I drove almost made me fall asleep it was so dull with vague steering and no feedback from any of the controls. Fine for going in a straight line on a motorway but not very good on the twisty stuff imho :D

Mine has loosened up considerably and I've just ticked over 12k miles - I bought mine from Pewshams 6 months ago and can't fault them or their aftersales service (y)

I think as long as you are aware that you won't be able to zoom over speedbumps you'll be fine. Its not really that bad IMO. Well I hope you enjoy it! When will it arrive?

Agreed about the stereo but I went for the subwoofer option and I must say it really does give a lot more depth to the sound, worth the £150 I think.

Yeah, I figured if I actually stick to 20mph or so over the bumps I'd be ok (I actually worry more about them shaking things loose or knackering the tracking more than the thumps through the cabin - I wish you could sue the council for damaging your car on those damn things!) Better than the system they used until recently of forcing you down to a single lane to compete with oncoming traffic to slow down, genius! A poor lad died when admittedly speeding but having to go through the "Chicane" system when his wheel clipped the edge and he went head on into a tree. As dangerous as speeding is it's only actually a problem when you hit something!!

Anyhoo, back on topic - I ordered on Sunday from Supasavers - £7295 + £350 paint (Electroclash, still couldn't decide on the best colour!!) but needed to know delivery times before confirming, 7-10 days was the concensus - they called me back Monday AM from the Pewsham number to confirm the order and tell me one had literally just come in! It is now registered in my name as the first owner - the price quoted was £7495 base and when I questioned this it was apparently because the lower price was for when they do the pre-reg in their name. I'm happy enough to take the £200 hit and be the first owner really. As soon as I can sort insurance and get the cash for my old car they'll tax it and it's mine! I'm aiming for Friday pick-up...

The issues I mentioned above about the bits that bugged me when jumping from a low-slung seating position in an admittedly far more expensive car to the Panda were as much about adjusting to the difference between the two than being unhappy with the Panda as such. The Audi is a relatively quick car and I'm used to the torquey power delivery of the turbo - have to remember I need 4k+ revs to get power from a revvy naturally aspirated engine! The grip levels are similar, the Audi rides more smoothly but then it is a bigger car and it's far quieter but then engine sounds like a hoover where the Panda is noisy but has character!

I've owned some sporty cars, Datsun 260Z - race modified with triple carbs, Alfa 145 Cloverleaf so I'm used to "character" but after a few years of company cars - Renault Laguna 120dci and VW Passat 1.9 diesel I need to get my head back around the fun parts of driving rather than dull refinement. I chose the panda for this reason, to have my first "new" car of my own and, of course - economy! Cheap insurance, tax and fuel are getting more and more important!

Anyway, just writing loads as I'm bored at work and need to wake up ;)
