Anybody experiencing `droning` from the rear brakes on 100HP's? Especially when reversing, and braking slowly (ie when doing a 3 point turn!). Also getting squealing when pulling up to traffic lights/junctions. Car has only got 200 miles on it, so wondering if they just need `bedding in`. Then again, that's why we have warranties!!.....(y)

Oh yessssssssss.

There have been many posts on this very matter.

I am now on 10,000 miles and just over a year old and still have 'whistling' brakes rather than squealing - squealing does disappear to be replaced by what sounds like a seized caliper whistling sound relating to wheel speed.

And the groan........yeah, I have that too - it won't go away.

Mentioned it to my dealer at the first service in January....also the fabled modified pads - but all I got were shrugged shoulders and "no mention of a recall on the computer".

I've decided to wait for the warmer weather and strip the calipers down and give them a good clean out and some copper grease.

I did ask the dealer to record my concerns on the computer in case I decide to bring it in during year two warranty if my cleaning doesn't work.

Just to reiterate..........NOISY BRAKES APPEAR TO BE A FEATURE OF THE 100HP - still love it though.

Sounds like it's about time for a poll of 100HP owners on this one - I know that there are a number of fellow sufferers out there.

Any Moderators fancy setting this one up please?

It would be useful to be able to show a dealer the sort of feedback on this matter when trying to convince them that there is in fact a problem with the brakes on the 100HP. :bang:

I don't think that there is a safety issue here - hence no recall - just the usual ownership pain in the a*se.

Well, I know this is an old thread but the weirdest thing happened last night.
My rear discs on the 4x4 occasionally squeak a little bit at low speed.
However, yesterday evening, after doing many miles across the Pennines in mist and fog I swear that all four discs were sqealing loudly in harmony at speed for several miles.
Once out of the fog the noise settled.
Explain that, if you can.

you can cure the brake droning by cleaning out the rear brakes, but, it WILL come back at some point, I was told by a technician when my car went in for a service that a good way to get rid of the droning is to occasionally use the handbrake firmly (not blue smoke chav stylee lol) to slow the car enough to burn off all the crap surrounding the rear pads, obviously when the roads are quiet, as for the squeeling when braking, it does wear off eventually :)
