Hi all,

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can buy a reasonably priced genuine phone cradle for my Panda (one of the ones that fits in the socket on the dashtop)?

I'm a bit fed up with suction-mount cradles...

The only ones that I can find online are what I would call "stupidly expensive" ?

On a side note, I'm assuming they still work in the socket on pre-facelift (2013) models?

Cheers

A lot of the accessories from Fiat seem to be ridiculous price, I've purchased a majority of the genuine accessories for my Panda over the 3 years I've owned it as it is the only car I've ever brought new, I worked out if I had brought them all from Fiat it would have cost me nearly £1,400 as a lot of it is ridiculously priced, But as I decided not to get ripped off by the main dealers, I brought the same items on Ebay, all new & making sure they were Genuine Fiat & the part numbers matched those in the official Panda accessory book, haggling with the sellers on some New Old Stock items & waiting until the likes of Mopar Store & Partsworld to have a huge sale on, I have spent just under half that amount, £683 to be exact just by shopping around:slayer:. It's all Genuine Fiat except the side door mouldings as these are from Automotiva, cost much less than the genuine equivalent, look & fit just as good & don't have to drill nasty holes in the doors for the clips.

I fitted one of these to my Panda:

I got one for £79.99 but you also need a canbus interface cable and a facia plate so it is a lot more expensive than just a phone cradle. It works really well though. I like being able to use Alexa and Waze with just the press of one button.

I'm also looking to get a new stereo in my Panda as the original radio is starting to mess around. Am thinking of getting a Sony DAB mechless stereo as I don't own any CDs. All in with stereo, the canbus adapter, either magnetic roof mounted aerial like my existing DAB adapter or external glass mount aerial & the fascia between £150-£200. I'm not changing the speakers as the standard ones are pretty decent.

What do you think of it on a day-to-day basis? I'm looking at one of these as a floating screen one is hideous money and blocks either the dash vents or the row of buttons below the stereo

I'm very happy with it. If I had to choose again then I'd buy it again but it does have a couple of annoying things. The worst thing is no volume knob which makes it more cumbersome to adjust. If you don't connect your phone then changing radio stations is a pain as the buttons adjust frequency instead of moving between presets.

On the plus side, the headunit/phone integration works very well. I have the navigation button set to Waze which is way better than anything else in my opinion. It's great being able to tap 1 button on the head unit and have it come up. Or I can press the Alexa button and tell it where I want to go and it then fires up Waze with the destination setup.
