Hi guys,

Rear washer jet not working, the pump is working fine, washer fluid is leaking from engine bay and leaving a puddle on the drive every time I use the rear washer function. Front washers working fine and no leakage if I don't use the rear washer.

Any ideas, popped pipe? Where to start?

This has happened on my Honda Jazz in the past and it was just a popped connector, easy to fix.

From that crystal clear description of 'symptons' I think you have solved it yourself! :)

Just follow the bottle reservoir and trace the pipe to see where it has come adrift or whatever.

Hi thanks for the message,

I was pretty clear :), I was hoping for a description of how the hose runs?
Ill try and get under it tomorrow, I think ill have to remove the plastic panel underneath.

I had the same thing. The pipe had popped where it comes off the main feed. I had to remove the black panel below the windscreen to access it, which means wipers off too. The join is roughly in the centre of the car. Just pushed it back in and added ductape. I think it happens if using when the rear pipes / jet are frozen. Whilst the panel is off you can clear the accumulated leaves / gunge also.

Cheers for that, just sorted it, not to much in the way of leaves etc, handy markings on the windscreen for re aligning the wipers to.:)

Found this post and similar problem I think but I wondered where is the rear washer jet actually located? I recall it coming from the top of the rear windscreen, but can only see a small round black circle stud type thing located on the top right centre if the rear windscreen.

Is that is? It was just so I could try cleaning it or poking with a pin first if that was the issue......I’m a bit “blonde” when it comes to these things...1st car and all.

It’s on the end of the high level brake lamp above the glass. Basically a red plastic half sphere which is moulded into the brake light.

Thank you, yes this is what I was referring too but somehow thought it was black. I’ll see if that does the trick

It happened to my pop 66 plated, easy fix, thanks for the info.

An old post but very useful - thank you. My rear washer packed up Christmas 2022 and just today (because it's warm and sunny) I had a proper look around, realised I get the puddle on the ground, looked harder but didn't see much, found this thread, looked again but in the proper place this time and confirmed it was as stated in this thread. Removed wipers and plastic cowling, reconnected, tested and working again (all over the rear window I just cleaned) and reassembled. Took my time, about an hour. Job done. Registered and updated this post. Thanks again!
P.S. in case it's of interest, Irish registered low mileage 2014 Antarctica 4x4 complete with Penguin stickers. Cheers!
