How many of you have 16" wheels on your Panda. ?
I have run 2 version on my Panda's.
i started with Steel Black 16's on my Panda 169.
The same steel black wheels move over to my first Panda 85 Lounge Turquoise.
And then move to my present Grigio Argento Panda 85 Lounge.
Along the way i had also LM Bravo wheels on both the Turquoise en Grigio Argento Panda 85 Lounge.

Some Pictures.

Cheap and effective. Makes me want to price them up on some website (if I knew where to look)

Does this increase any performance? I wonder if steel rims weigh more than tyres?

Steel 7Jx16 ET31 wheel is 7.5 Kg.
My 215/40R16" and 205/45R16 tires weigh 7.0 Kg.
14.5 Kg per steel wheel-tire, the 7Jx16" ET31 Bravo LM wheels weigh 11 Kg.
Performance wise the Black steel wheels are much better then the heavy LM wheels.
I have 215/40R16" on the front wheels and 205/45R16" at the rear, also lowered with 35mm Novitec Springs, the Panda drives like a Razor. :D

Wheels are cheap: https://www.oponeo.co.uk/steel-wheel/alcar-kfz-9087#19867611

Still pretty pleased with my Red O.Z. 35th Anniversary's all though they are pretty heavy.
I'm thinking about getting me some wild 17x7's(ET 35) with 205/40 Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres. I asume they won't rub as they don't come closer to the inside of the wheel well then the current 16x7 ET37.

The edge of the new tyre will be 3mm closer to the inside of the wheel well and suspension components, and 7mm further out from the edge of the bodywork.

At the front there is inside space enough, at the rear it could rub on the inside.

So ET30 would be my choice @ 7J.

Btw, 17" would even weigh more IMHO.

Well the wheels I have my eyes on are second hand but unused so the ET 35 is a given. I could also put 3mm spacers at the back and then it should be fine. Other solution is running 195/40r17 tyres but I worry a bit about the comfort with these.

The wheels weigh in at 10,5 kg a piece without the tyre wich is pretty much the same or maybe even slightly lighter then the O.Z. 's.

Grave digging here,

What do we reckon to a mullet wheel setup? 16x6j (205?) on the front for steering etc, keeping standard mk3 (175) rear wheels on the back as they don’t do too much around roundabouts etc?

So here's a question .
I have been thinking of up-grading my 15inch alloys to either 16inch alloys .
however the 16inch steels look quite good .
What would you do ? change from 15inch alloys to 16inch steels and what
would the benefits be or are there any downsides to doing this kind of swap ? .

I would choose 16" steel because they are lighter then the same in alloy.
For example : The FIAT Bravo 7x16" offset/ET 31 wheels are the best size-wise.
The Bravo wheel is available as a steel wheel (https://www.oponeo.co.uk/steel-wheel/alcar-kfz-9087#21067382) and as a OEM alloy wheel, both with exact the same specs, 7Jx16" offset/ET 31, 4x98 PCD, 58.1 centre bore.
The difference is weight, steel is lighter, because it's stronger, and therefore less steel needed.
Alloy is the lighter material, but to get the same wheel strength you need a lot more of it, and it's ending up weighing heavier.
With the Bravo wheel, you can run : 195/45R16", 205/45R16" and 215/40R16", without any issues, like rubbing, even not with lowering, and i'm 40mm down.
On the front axle you could even run 225/40R16" tires on the 7jx16" ET31 Bravo wheel, without issues, but that gives to much front axle grip IMHO.

I'm running on the 7Jx16" ET31 Bravo wheels a 215/40R16" Falken Ziex ZE310 Ecorun summer tires at the front and a 205/45R16" Falken Ziex ZE310 Ecorun summer tires at the rear, giving great grip, and a 2.1% front rake.
I further have Bilstein Gas shocks, and 40mm Novitec lowering/sport springs.

Another positive outcome with running 16" wheels is, that the shocks will start to work much better compare to 14" or 15" wheels, and giving a much better ride.
The more tire there is, the less work the shocks do, at the end you get a much better driving Panda with 16", IMHO.

16x7j for 205 but I would go 195 /45 on a 7j wich is only very slightly streched.
