Re: Possible Ice on road warning?

I might get behind the dash and pull the plug from the buzzer, it sounds like it is below the steering column somewhere. I do use my belt but when I just want to move it a few feet or so to squeeze another car in the drive the thing keeps going off and I hate it, the light on the dash doesn't bother me just this air raid siren every time you move the car.

It can be turned off by using multiecuscan or a quick visit to your dealer/fiat specialist

I agree about the seatbelt buzzer. If it's anything like the one in my Panda TA it's a long continuous piercing alarm. Ironically, surely more dangerous than driving without a seatbelt!

Yes, a friend of mine has an O8 bravo and that is bearable but the one in my punto is so loud and when you go through menu and opt to turn down buzzer volume it doesn't !

My Bravo today displayed the Ice symbol at 4oC and then gave the Possible Ice on road warning at 3oC. I expect all the computers are the same.

That seat-belt buzzer! OK, I appreciate that safety's important, but that buzzer's far louder than the one in my wife's horrible Volvo ffs (and I don't believe Fiat can teach Volvo anything about automotive safety)

Re: Possible Ice on road warning?

The 'buzzer' is used for more than just the seat belt warning. Its the same electronic sounder used for the 'tick tock' of the indicators too (try signalling or using the hazard at the same time as the seat belt warning is sounding), and also that goes 'beep' when fuel is low. Best not to try disconnecting that

I've noticed that I can read 'Possible...' on starting up, but the rest of the message gets replaced by 'O2' as Bluetooth connects to the phone. Seems the latter is seen as being more important! My Volvo shows a snowflake next to the temperature when its less that 3C. Maybe Fiat just assume we know that once its 3C or below, ice is possible?

Try driving a bit further or faster in the Volvo with the belt off. It starts as a discrete, gentle 'bing' - like on a plane when the steward is called. But ignore it, or drive faster, and it gets much louder and more angry sounding!

Re: Possible Ice on road warning?

Been there, done that!

But the volume / irritation level of the Volvo's alarm is proportionate to risk. It's pretty quiet if you're trundling along quite slowly, but gets more insistent as you speed up. The Panda goes to Defcon 1 straight off the bat, and stays at that level. No proportionality. Crude. Unnecessary. Unsophisticated.

My Skoda did that. It's bloody stressful. Not that I make a habit of driving without a seatbelt...

Re: Possible Ice on road warning?

Thanks for all the replies.

I have no issue with the seatbelt warning. Louder the better IMO.

My ice warning is there. It's just the Bluetooth phone connection beats it too it.

No snowflake though. That would be a welcome addition.

Cheers,

Simon

Re: Possible Ice on road warning?

This thread went from ice warning to seat belt buzzer. The OP has specified that he had no issues with the seat belt buzzer. Perhaps I'm being a bit pedantic. On my diesel hack I have temp' reading, no ice icon, but in my book it's obvious due to outside temperature the likelihood of ice on the road. Perhaps I'm being a bit too simplistic.....
