when i worked for fiat in the early 80s the cars were never driven but trailered to delivery points, also our showroom was 3 miles from the garage and were put on a trailer for pdi and the first the car was driven was on a 8 mile road test, the new cars NEVER had more than 10 miles on the clock when the customer received his new car.

IIRC the dealers can reset the odometer to zero during PDI providing the car has done less than 100 miles (perhaps someone in the trade can confirm this?).

That doesn't exactly inspire confidence (n).

You'll probably find the dealer & the driver sat there pissing themselves with laughter as soon as he put the phone down, they really don't give a kippers. I've worked at main dealers, one salesman wrote off an MGF he was demonstrating to a customer by leaving an island sideways & the sales manager thought it was hilarious. Same as when a salesman overtook a car on a blind corner and met a Shogun coming the other way. Funny thing was, if any of us in the workshop put the slightest scratch on in a genuine accident there was hell to pay.
