I have today collected my new panda 4x4 twinair. Love it, but was just wondering where you store the toolkit? Mine came with a space saver spare wheel and the toolkit (jack etc) is in a bag in the boot. I would prefer it under the loadfloor. Is that possible or does it only fit there with the repair kit?
Thanks

Have you tried seeing if it'l fit inside the wheel

Yes, I have the same problem. The spare is mounted the wrong way up so the hollow is underneath! They haven't really thought this one through. Its going to be real pain in the **** in the boot all the time. Any ideas anyone?

Hi,
Just checked and it doesn't fit inside the spare wheel. Looking through the manual, it should either fit inside a foam holder inside the spare wheel or under the driver seat. It doesn't fit in either. Could someone with a 4x4 and spare wheel post a picture where they have their toolkit?

Well unless the spare can be mounted the other way round (which it can't be) we are stuck with the tool kit taking up a load if bold space....
Wish I hadn't bothered with the spare now and stuck with the std emergency inflater thing! Oh well too late now.

The tool kit ( wheelbrace ,screwdriver and petrol funnel ) on my new Panda 4 x 4 fits in a styrofoam moulding which sits in the dish of the space saver spare wheel. The boot carpet fits over the top making the boot floor flat.
Will post a pic in the morning.
Regards.

It looks as though they've carried over the toolkit (velcro-and-all) from the previous model 4x4. That too used up boot-space...

Hi swinnerton. I though there was only one choice of spare wheel and from what others have said, the tool-kit won't fit in the same space along with that wheel?? Your pics are eagerly anticipated!! (y)

Why can't the wheel fit face down

Because there's a sort of pillar under the middle of it that meets up with the centre of the spacesaver. To match the offset on the spare wheel, the height of the pillar is different on different models - or is on the previous one - I tried to put the neat toolkit from a 1.2 into a 100HP and it wouldn't go, though I did think of modifying the plastic container to enable it to do so. I'll get a toolkit from a scrappy and try again when I get my 4x4 (tomorrow).

Attached are pics of my spare wheel and toolkit.
Regards.

If that lot will fit the spare in my 4x4 then I'm ordering one!

With the slidy/foldy rear seat option the tool kit has to be at an angle if the seats are right back, so the under-floor set would be ideal.

Lastly , is there a FIAT part number on the kit that you could post up?

Thanks :)

I just went for the repair system. Come all nicely in the area where the spare wheel should go with space left over for the other ( just in case) bits and stuff we all carry around. Only thing that got me was no jack or tyre arm there are other reasons you may want to take a wheel off.

My 4x4 with sliding rear seat and space saver came with the bag in the boot. I have manage to fit it under my driving seat (diagonally) which isn't perfect but better than in the boot. I'm interested to find out about this option of it going inside the spare wheel too.

I agree with you on the latter point, having also eschewed the space-saver
for my Trekking (I hate space-saver spare wheels even more than the idea
of the repair kit (n) ) The sensible M&S tyres will hopefully be more
robust than the silly low-profile rubber on many current cars

Eventually I might buy a decent compact jack and a wheel-brace, though
one advantage of the 4x4 and Trekking is that I can creep under the car,
due to its raised suspension (and my old but slim figure :D )

Hi swinnerton - and another question for you: Is yours a UK market RHD car?

It just strikes me as odd that FIAT should have two different systems for the same model in the same market!
