Just checking to see if anyone has similar experiences of an odd problem with the demist function in my Panda.

While out and about yesterday (10°, dry, daytime) after getting back in the car after a 15 minute stop, the driver's side of the windscreen and driver's side windows would simply not demist. I tried hot air, cold air, air con, no air con etc. The dash top vents were fully open but nothing cleared it. If anything these made it worse.

What's really weird is that the screen remained completely clear on the passenger side. I have a photo but only idevices that can't upload it here.

Now while I must admit I may sweat more than my wife, and I would argue that she is smoking hot, we couldn't work out why this was happening.

The car is a few weeks old, 700 miles covered, air con used on a few occasions. Any thoughts? I'll try cleaning the insides of the windows with Windolene in case it's a residue from manufacturing, but that seems unlikely.

Thanks for any feedback..

Air was on for three minutes with no effect before I gave up. And air not on recirculate. Even my glasses and the rear view mirror were steaming up. Seems to be pumping more humidity into the car rather than dry air.

could be either you have a bit of a leak or the recirc flap is stuck, do you have climate or just AC

We have AC, not climate. The recirc flap is possible, although there is an audible "click" and change in the strength of the airflow when I turn the dial from recirculated to not recirculated.

First free weekend with the new car, will be naffed off if we can't actually use it for a run out to the seaside today. It was literally impossible to drive safely yesterday because the screen was misting up while driving...

Booked in at Desira at Norwich on Tuesday; thanks for all the suggestions. Wonder if it is a leak...

When my Doblo was new the condensate pipe was kinked somewhere and the water dripped into the passenger footwell and caused misting problems.

Desira either re-routed it or fitted a new pipe, I can't remember which, but I have not had any A/C problems since.

A little update. I first spotted this problem about on Friday, and called Desira to book a service the following Tuesday. We tried to use the car again on Saturday and Sunday (both fairly chilly mornings) bit in both cases it was impossible: I had to pull over because the screen kept misting up.

I went straight to Desira and threw the keys though the door. Only Jay, the man who sold the car to me (and who I continue to have only the highest appreciation for) was in, and he saw us step out of the car in a cloud of mist with a distinctly chemical aroma.

He guessed (rightly, as it turns out) that a faulty connection in the heating system was leaking moisture and antifreeze into the ventilation system

It's all under warranty of course, but the necessary parts on back order so the car was out of action for a week. Desira had none of their five courtesy cars available, so I was without wheels. By Wednesday, however, Jason was kind enough to see that wasn't going to work, and handed me the keys to his own company car, a Fiat Qubo.

Not great news for such a new car (700 miles). Has anyone else had such a problem with the heating / ventilation system?

Very irritating, of course, but just the sort of problem that's going to occur on a new car.
