Dear Alan

TURBO 2.5 1988 Camping Car - Timing Belt change

I bought an old Ducato camper but having no bill on timing belt opted to change it before driving it any distance at all.

The timing belt was broken by an over eager helper of mine when he offered to give a hand I could therefore not put markings from old to new belt to keep the job a little simpler...

While I will order a manual thro the Haynes Site for future reference, I saw your kind proposal re reference material and the possibility of sending it .. I have found nothing on Internet to help and the garages in France and GErmany were unhelpful despite buying parts ... so would it be AT ALL possible to send me schema on how to

change of timing belt on Ducato including
the manufacturers markings to make sure that everything is double checked before I start the engine.
Is it the same procedure for the 1.9 and 2.5 Diesel engine?

Hoping you are - unlike me on holiday BUT consulting messages despite it being August, I am in France and so everything is closed here and while my Camping Car has a theoretic 110 000 km, I chose to change the belt to ensure no major problems being taking it for a trip

FIAT
Modele : 290 MA7 Ducato
Type : ZFA28000000387276
1st put on road : 15/02/88

Maybe something like this??

Gee Gee, I think you are up S#!t creek if the belt is off as described in your post

The three images are warnings, dismantling sequence, and reassembly/checking.

Dear Alan

Thanks to another forum user who ever so kindly confirmed the "markings" we had found, we have Just fixed the timing belt, (it had broken prior to my being able to make the markings) BUT HAPPILY the engine purrs almost as loudly as me.

however, it would be brilliant if ever you could provide the Torque settings and other data as you provided in pdf for Panda as my Haynes ordered manual has still not arrived.

I have a 1988 2.5 Ducato (non turbo) diesel.

have a great day and hoping you could help

GG

Hi

Thanks so much for your confirmation for the markings. They are what we had studied and so we were able to do the replacement fearlessly and the engine is purring almost as loudly as me :) If another user would require the photos with the manufacturers markings I can provide them. I'll just add some arrows in photoshop first to clarify any newbie to mechanics ;)

Have a great day and thanks again
