Hi there,

I had a high pitch squealing noise coming from the engine which would get a tiny bit quieter when the clutch was depressed- drove fine & pulled lovely but the loud noise was too much.

I thought it was the clutch & so began removing the gearbox & found nothing wrong inside, so put it back together.

Now; when connecting the battery back up and turning the key in the ignition, I have nothing what so ever- can’t see a bad earth or blown fuse anywhere.

Begging for someone with knowledge to help, even better, I’d happily pay someone to come help me get it fixed- BS34 area.

Please help!

Many thanks, Vince.

hey there, have you made sure that the little wire is plugged into the starter solenoid on the starter motor? also it still could be a bad earth. the earth cable on the panda is a huge fail point. (on both of mine it has failed)

get a jumper lead to the battery - then to the car body, then use the other jumper lead to go to the body to the engine.

Also check that you have connected the smaller red power cable that goes from the starter to the alternator. i have seen it a few times where the eye connector looks like its connected, but under the rubber cap, it is not connected at all. (this was the case with another forum members panda that i spotted at a car show)

it is really all it can be if you are getting nothing when you turn the ignition on.

also check to see if you have any power coming through the 12v socket in the dash. that is a constant live in a panda, so should always have 12v with the ignition on or off.

Whenever I hear squeal I think belts. How is the belt to the alternator looking? Have you tried jumping it? A flat battery is an easy fix. :)
