Hi all,

This is my first post, so apologies if its a repeat of an old one!

I'm about to acquire a '94 Panda Fizz and I want to give it a quick service.

I know its a later model with electronic ignition etc, so is servicing mainly a matter of oil/filter change and new plugs?

This will be my fourth Panda, and although its not my main car anymore, they are tremendous fun and I have have many happy memories of my first 1000s back in 1991!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

ian.

Welcome to the forum. A service is very simple even for the beginner. A Haynes manual or Porter manual will assist you. Basically it's an oil changer/filter, fuel filter, air filter, plugs, and I flush and replace the coolant as well. That should keep the Panda happy.

Welcome to the forum, I couldn't run my Panda without help from some of the people here, we are lucky enough to have some Panda experts who give advice freely. :)

As you are just aquireing it for the fist time I would change Oil & Filter, Plugs, Air filter, Drain & refill gearbox/diff, check timing belt if OHC, check alternator pully belt.

But most importantly the Brakes (calipers discs pads) and check the colour of the fluid if dirty replace & bleed the system.

That's all I can think of for now i'm sure others will add to the list :)

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice.

Hopefully I should be able to do most of the work myself, but I might leave the brake fluid to a professional.

Ive just had a quote from a local garage of £21.75 to drain and replace the brake fluid - thats just one of the things I love about Pandas!

Thanks again,

It will be OHC, but I wouldn't worry about the timing belt as the engine will take no harm if it snaps. (As long as a tow home is no problem).

The alternator pully belt will be a flat belt which should last just about forever if it's not over tightened.

The only thing I'd add to the list above would be an antifreeze/coolant change.

Welcome Ian, where you based? One of us may be close enough to lend a hand if needed.

Break fluid change can either be very easy or a total pig.

If the bleed nipples snap in place then forget it :bang:

If they are free then just go buy a Gunsons Ezibleed kit from your local motor factor. Very easy to use, fill the bottle with fluid, attach one end to a tyre with 20 psi in it and then bleed off the fluid till the new stuff comes through, front first then rear.

The rest of the service is a doddle. The hardest part I find is finding the wife to make the coffee half way through
