Hello all it's time once again for you all to come and join me for weekend of off-road fun in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
It's hard to believe it but the last time we had this meet it was probably the wettest 4x4 weekend we've done to date. Flooded roads and floating Pandas prompted me to invite you all up for a "summer" meet this time. I would suggest you all still bring your wellies though!
So for those who have not attended a 4x4 weekend up 'ere yet; we'll spend a good weekend amongst some of the best scenery you'll find in the country, exploring it all via dirt roads and narrow tracks. Then at the end of the weekend we'll visit one of two available local off-road courses where you can get muddy and stuck, or just watch and enjoy.
The plan so far...
SATURDAY 1ST
Arrive at the meet point between 11am and 12 noon for a departure at 12:30. We'll head out along some of the local lanes for the afternoon, depending on numbers and abilities we may do the Middlesmoor track again or Dead-Man's Hill (which we missed at the end of the last weekend). After the trails we'll head back to Base Camp (Masham) and have a meal at one of the local pubs. I will book in and release details after I've got final numbers on this. After this we can head back to accommodation or drinks at mine.
SUNDAY 2ND
At the meet point for between 9am and 9:30am for departure around 10am. We're going to head over Middleham Moor to High Lane, West Burton in order to re-do the route we failed at on the last Dales weekend, yes that's the one where Si ended up floating in a large puddle/lake/ocean. This is an excellent lane with amazing views so pray for sunshine! After this it'll be over to West & High Cam (Roman) Roads dropping down through Raydale where there is a most excellent river to drive through. We'll be stopping for lunch at some point on the route depending on time. For the end of the day we'll either head to Paul's farm or Sharow Common for the muddy fun and final departure.
MEET POINT
The meet point for both days is the same as usual; Masham recreational ground HG4 4DS - the post code takes you to the opposite side of the road.
ACCOMMODATION
There are many pubs and guest houses to stay at in the village, previously most have stayed at The King's Head and The White Bear. Have a look on Google and feel free to ask me if you want any further information. For camping; Paul's Farm has a registered camp site with facilities - I will contact him this week and make sure he'd be happy to have us. For individuals; I have a couple of spare beds and room if anyone wants to crash in the lounge - just send me a message.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Lunch on both days will be packed lunch, there is a shop in the village for supplies along with a petrol station for all of our fuel requirements. Depending on forecasts closer to the time, I would bring some warm clothes and waterproofs just in case! Don't worry too much about bringing masses of spares, just make sure you have air in your spare tyre(s) as well as oil and coolant in your engine.
Any further questions feel free to post on this thread or send me a PM - Thanks all.
