I've just heard on the news that the government is thinking (?) of putting a MINIMUM quantity of petrol available at petrol stations of £30 !
I fill ours at £26 ... what are we supposed to do?...buy lots of chocolate ?
This idea seems to be based upon the premise that most people drive cars that cost £30+ to fill ... the very vehicles that are causing problems in the first place !
But, there again ... they ARE the type of cars that ministers drive ...............

I can't see how they can do it by price. Surely by volume would be better as it never changes.

The most I've got into mine was £29.50 @ 91.9, it was near enough bone dry for fuel. Got the most out of my 5p off a litre voucher though!

Sounds like an odd idea, but to encourage people to only fill up when they need to instead of panic buying like the past few days. What about motorcycles? They don't strike me as having massive fuel tanks.

Would mean people with huge 'things' that do single MPG figures would be inconvenienced which I guess would be the intention.

But I also am assuming they mean only through any fuel crisis - it would kill lorry drivers ;)

NO... It was definately 'MINIMUM'; the idea being to stop folk from keeping 'topping up' for a few pounds.
 £30 came out as the 'average' pump price.

my bikes got a 14 litre tank... i hope they have a different policy for motorcyclists. otherwise i will need to carry buckets with me.

I could just fill up then pour the rest of the petrol all over the floor... or down a drain... or take half of it and walk down the que forming in the forecourt asking if someone wants to save 30 minutes and buy £20 worth of fuel now...
