Today I inserted all the important grommets (front edge of the sills, rear cross member etc.).
I've painted the entire underside in metalic grey . Looks absolutely awesome!!
I've touched in any Sandglow up in the wheel arches as well, to make sure it's perfect right into every crevice, nook & cranny.
Waxoil'ing the entire chassis tomoz . It's perched on top of the boiler now to get nice and hot. I have a 5-way spray pipe too so I can thread it into every panel & sill. Should work a treat.
Guessing the rebuild can start Monday evening :yum:
Wow, I am genuinly stunned by your efforts there. The car looks fab, I really cant wait to see the finished artical now. I wont have internet very often but I will try and keep an eye out whenever possible!!
Dont scratch it either! I've done it so many times, painted up a panel then damaged something by accident with an unforseen sharp extrusion from some clothing putting it all back together :bang:
Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly anyway. Just a thought regarding the waxoil. Not sure but I think it has been mentioned before on here as not being the best route for underside protection (by all means correct me if the general concensus is different though). Might be some threads on here with more details...
Oh don't worry. The underside is VERY well protected!
The Waxoil isn't going on the bottom. It's going into all the cavities (Panels, doors, sills etc) The underside is done now having had a gazilion coats of everything
Sounds good! I think I'll be doing similar work on mine at some point in the future. Not right away as I can only guess as to how expensive all this has been! When the time comes though I might have to ask you a few questions!!
The underside has now been painted metalic gray and looks awesome.
Today I waxoyl'd the entire chassis. I threaded a 5-way jet hose through each cross-member and sill. This hooked up to my compressor has sprayed a fine jet of Waxoyl all over the internal surfaces. Here's some pics
Boredom really. I guess Metalic Grey is more original than black. You should see the way it cuts into the Sandglow underneath. Looks awesome!
More photos on the rebuild soon!
