Hi Fiat Folks ,
I have a Fiat Multipla , 2nd Gen Facelift 1.9jtd . I bought one again because before I got my Prostate Cancer we had one in early 2000s as a family vehicle . Ex Missus test drove that and a Vauxhall Zaferia using baby seat test was well as test drive . She loved the Multipla and we all grew to love it , especially the little ones in our tribe . I bought another again down to affordability and needing a SUV platform , due to spinal pain , cancer travelled to spine , bones . It took me about 18months of looking but eventually mine came up at £2,500 with 80,000 on the clock . I hope to set myself up in the Multipla group and also post some stuff in the Fiat Panda Section , as I'd like to get a Fiat Panda 4x4 project going . The very best wishes to all on the Forum ?

Hi Jack ,
I actually like them , did not think they were ugly , wierd in gen 1 but then again I come from a farming community , drive trucks in the Waste Industry , I'm passionate about Motorcycles and probably just nuts !! I think it is a great shame that Fiat did not invest in the Multipla , but I guess they just don,'t have the clout or market that Toyota , Ford or VAG do , to have made the Multipla a flagship MPV ...... It has all the DNA ....
We're Fiat able ..... A full smart electric one , AWD like the Tesla , brill , a very clever hybrid one , again brill , Turbo / Supercharged petrol powerplant like Volvo , just brilliant diesel ..... Auto gearbox ...

I think the poorest points of the Multipla were Old Fiat poor build quality ( but not horrendous ) , economy of the JTD behind French units ( my mates old Picasso stulld does 60mpg on a run , 45 Urban .... ) Lack of cruise control , auto box option .....

For what they are , they drive nice . Due to cancer in my spine , cancer in my bones my Nissan Almera 1.5 petrol ( lovely smooth engine ) was too painful to drive . The Multipla MPV was the only SUV platform anywhere near in my financial affordability list ...... Again saved by Fiat and budget motoring ..... It is just a real shame that they got hammered . I rode in my neighbours Skoda Yeti Petrol TSi DSG auto the other day and I thought , Fiat could easily have developed the Multipla to be on par ..... I was impressed with the powerplant auto box as a passenger and she had a Volvo V40 high spec Auto before . She prefferred the Volvo but her fella kept hitting his head !
Unless I get really lucky , I am pretty sure the Multi will be my last car ....
All the very best ?

You are a brave Man to be on here talking about what's going on for you.

I thank you for being so upfront about your situation and giving me an opportunity to adjust my perspective on life and what is important or not.

Thank you

Jack

I have an "ugly" multi -so dashed useful

Welcome to the site, I worked in the motor trade about the time the multiple was in its 1st generation, we got them in from time to time at the dealership and they were a car that was 100% built to be useful than to be something pretty. The first generation was to be a bit of an eye sore but it was so damn useful and even with its weird and quirky features like controls in odd places it defiantly had a charm. I really liked the second gen, they improved the looks no end but kept all the usefulness, however I never had a need for a car like the multi but still love them and they are still very quirky and cute but still infinitely practical and drive nicely.

Sorry to here about your cancer and Mets I hope you’re getting all the best treatment and making the most of things under the circumstances.

Hi Jack ,

I am not sure about being brave ! I think with certain cancers , certainly Prostate Cancer , it is important to spread awareness . Lots of men dying as they catch it too late ! Especially aggressive grouping , which I am in . I got it at 46 not typical 66 ! They need to develop screening for men like cervical cancer . Catching it early would make a hell of a difference .
Regards perspective , as the saying goes .... We often don't realise what we have until it's lost .... I say often .. .. a brilliant book on this by a guy getting a large following .... " The Power of Now " by Eckhart Tolle ...

As I say a great shame that Fiat did not commit to developing the Multipla to become a class leading MPV , it does have the MPV DNA . I did not realise also until gogglehead searching Classic Fiats that the Multipla , modern one is not the first one they did .... They did an early model that was loosely based on the 500 / 600 I think , sought of looked like a squished VW camper ! I bet a mint one of them is worth a Bob or two .....

Multipla is a great car . Certainly secondhand for the right price , hardly much to complain about for what you get for your money and a lot cheaper to insure than a van ! New and full price against competition, a different matter ! I get on with mine ok ?

All the best to everyone ?
