hi all, thanks for adding me to the forum. I'll be converting a swb 2017 van into a day van over the coming weeks (make that months). Loving the van so far, can't wait to start the mods! Have many of you guys done the same?

Not many people do their own conversions on fiat vans.

My brother owns a company converting vans and 90% of people want a VW van converting.

That said there are still a fair few people who convert Renault style vans, but despite the Ducato being the base of almost all new build campervans few people convert them later.

But there is advice on hand here if needed. Also a lot of people work on their own campers here

I looked at Transporters, Trafics and Transits. I like the fact there's not many Ducato day vans out there and for what I paid I've got a much newer nicer van than the equivalent VW. Now I can concentrate on kitting it out rather than reliability issues. There's plenty of inspiration online, not much in the UK but in Europe the Ducato and equivalent are popular for conversions. I'll look up Deep Red, thanks for the info.

I once had a VW Transporter project that never got going.. Condensation was a big issue in cold weather and heat in the summer of course. Before you start fitting anything, think about spray PU foam insulation inside the body panels. Alternatively, you can get closed cell "van insulation". You might need additional heat in cold weather so consider a

The spray foam (as used in canal boats) is not cheap. But you could fix the internal framing and have it sprayed at a boat yard before fitting the final finish panels.

Here's an example £35 per sq m

Here's a van insulation souped up bubble wrap.

Here's a heater example. I've no idea if this brand is any good.

I converted our 2011 SWB into a campervan, never looked back. A summer of hard work but it paid off. Good luck with your conversion.

A couple of photos...

I got the swivel plates from Kiravans.co.uk, the single passenger seat from an eBay outlet.
