Hi I'm kevwill, currently at the start of a restoration on a 1982 124 Spider 2000 California car. I bought it at the end of August.

It's been in (not always dry) storage on and off with the engine and box out for over 10 years. The previous owner broke the oil take up pipe going over a severe speed bump, the crank seized, had it ground and bought new shells and lost interest. I purchased it blind on ebay from the second owner who returned to the UK from Canada with it.

The pic is it loaded on ready to be delivered to me.

At least a 2 year project, I think.

I haven't worked on cars for over 40 years.

More later & questions/advice I suspect.

Kev

Hi Kev, and welcome, :)

nice project, (y)
the 124is before my time really, but the new "Madzerati" 124 can't do any harm to the classic values..,

I suspect once you get into it there will be a good network of parts sources,
or course OLDER vehicles didn't change spec. every 6 months like modern ones appear to:rolleyes:

Hi Kevwill,

Fiat spiders are great little cars if you get it sorted (isn't that the Brit expression?).
I have owned 2 spiders in my day - a 1976 many years ago and now a 1981 model. I must say I was skeptical of 30+ year old fuel injection on the '81, but now I think it is good to keep that option. Good luck. Keep us posted on your work. I am always interested in learning from others (most repair manuals are sketchy at best- it's better to learn from someone with grease under his/her fingernails!!).

Steve
