Hi Guys!

I'm new to these Forums, Hopefully I fit in okay :D

I'm 20 years old and from Cornwall, UK and have a secret love for Fiat Puntos :slayer:

My first car was a '54 (2004) plate Fiat Punto Active Sport 1.2L 8V. Had it for 15 months until it got written off by someone t-boning me when they pulled out of a junction. It was a sad moment when the insurance company towed her away. (n)

Thankfully, I wasn't deemed at fault and with the little insurance money it left me with a 1.1 Citroen C3 Desire, which was about as stylish as a 80 year old rocking up to a night club.

I saved and saved and got so ticked off the C3 a few weeks ago, I went looking for new cars; Fiestas, Yaris', DS3s, Corsas - All nice but none were a Punto. Luckily, I went on my local Fiat Dealerships website (Vospers) and they had a 2016 Fiat Punto Pop+ 1.2 5dr for £7995! - Steal ikr!

Went into the dealership in St Austell, and I spoke with the bloke and we sorted out a package and everything, and I said I'll be back later to sort it all out. Unfortunately, they were all in white, but luckily they had a Easy+ model in Exotica Red for an extra grand. Sat Nav, Auto Climate Control, Better interior, 3 Year Warranty and 3 Year Breakdown Cover, I was sold in 0.0002 seconds :D

Two weeks ago, I picked up my brand new Punto. And I have to say its awesome to drive and so much more powerful than my 1.1 C3 (Which if you haven't guessed by now I hated) It's also loads better on fuel and cheaper on road tax by £30 a year. Also bought a personalised plate to go on the car as well!

I plan on keeping it for a while and then upgrading to an Abarth Punto when I can afford the insurance and car! The 1.2 will do me as I only travel 5 miles each way to work and don't drive the car like I've stolen it or think I'm Sebastian Vettel!

Hope to stick around and get to know you guys.

Cheers
Chris

Would post a picture of my car but I don't have 5 posts yet :)

Hey!

Red door handles mate, come as standard on the Easy+

Just put my private plate on yesterday. Making it look even better. The more I look at it, the more I prefer the 2012+ model over the Evo GP.

Welcome as well!

Glad you enjoyed the purchasing experience. I agree that Vospers have got some amazing deals on the Punto; due to my wife's very poor experience with them there is no way I'd give them another penny, but I can at least admit they do good deals.

The Easy+ spec looks great, loads of kit and the pastel red is a really lovely colour too. Sure the 1.2 will prove to be fine for your needs as well, our Punto has the 1.4 8v which I opted for due to the amount of hills around here. Not that it ever feels remotely fast, but probably on balance requires a tad less ragging than the 1.2 would!

Yeah, the deal was awesome with what I got. They were nicer to me when I said I'll buy the car outright, not on finance! Sometimes with dealers it depends on who serves you and what not, but so far so good! Couldn't really say no to Vospers as they are the only new FIAT dealership in the St Austell area.

The 1.2 seems alright, its not too bad up hills, but as the car only has just over 200 miles on it, It has been bedded in yet and I don't want to rag it. Haven't gone full throttle yet, but it holds its rev and speeds up big hills, which my old Punto would die at. I didn't go with the 1.4 as it was a tad more expensive and also higher insurance.

I'm glad I paid the extra and went with the Easy+ though compared to the Pop+ version. So much more kit and nicer interior and exterior. Its awesome.
