Hello, this is Domi

Happy new year to start ,

But since this is about the Fiat
Regarding my Doblo 1.9 D I have an annoying small problem following replacement of the RPM sensor.

Engine was stalling after engine got warm enough, could restart when cooled a bit, etc : was happy to find quickly with plenty of internet info that it was the RPM sensor , changed it quickly and that was it ... so I thought

But then some "minor" problems came out, basically the engine would not start , need to trry up to ten times to start, then runs fine with occasional "micro stall" (briefly engine light on) that do not stop the car running...

Since I have already tried to fix this with multiple checks and actions, I'll try to summarize all I already did , find the right place to post it , and hope some one would point out what would solve it eventually...

So Happy New Year again

can I read them myself or do I need to go to Fiat for this ?

(ask this because a cousin of mine who owns an Opel about the same age as my Doblo , 2002, uses a sort of procedure to display fault codes on the dashboard)

thanks

thanx

I 've been reading a bit and looked up amazon for available cables, think I get the idea, I will try to get this working, can be useful in the future anyway

For now , just wondering ,would it tell me more than I already (strongly) assume , that it is an RPM sensor related problem ?

I see I could erase errors , could recorded errors be a problem in any way ?

SEARCH MultiECUScan on here,

basics are FREE ,
you just need a RED lead , and a laptop

Charlie

Hello again,

I finally got back to work on this , I installed the free version of multiecuscan with a usb interface

Interface test within the program looks OK : "you should be able to ...etc"

BUT , rather disappointed, looks like I have access to almost nothing , actually
I have a 2002 doblo 1.9 D, so assumed the setting was for "Fiat Doblo (type 119) 1.9 DS" and there almost everything , especially the engine "Lucas EPIC DCU3F Diesel Injection" is red ink , needing registered version even to read error codes

only "service interval reset" and body "CAN info" , [btw, what is the meaning of "CAN" ??with such a keyword I am quite clueless with google]

But the software would not connect to those (not proper interface or so message...)

so according to the program site the message about the registered version should tell me my system would connect, the test module says the hardware is working and should connect , what appears to be free access don't give me any info (!)

so I should buy the program and i don't even have a clue when it would actually work

by the way , why would I need a red lead ? I see adapers required for abs or airbags .. did I miss something about this

thanks!

Yes , I'm doing his , I will post details on the Doblo section, when the error is coming back

I don't mind a 50 euro to acess whenever I want my car info, hope to drive it a few mor years , may be useful anyway... But have a beaten up laptop that i will change before end of year and I kind undersatand you need to buy a new licence for another computer , and to start with I would like to be sure it would work with my car since I could not get anything from the demo (free) version

Found a friend with the equipment and erased the error codes , there were many errors, old ones apparently , such as a mishap years ago when for a single occasion the key had not been recognised and immobiliser forced me to wait a couple minutes before sucessfully starting the car

only one permanent error was there, the p0380 glow plug circuit , would have to check this , I now need to drive and wait for the first problem to happen and see if ant new error is in, I suppose the preheat circuit failure would not cause engine microcuts after driving one hour

Thanks

I fixed a few things and could drive the Doblo today ( A one hour round trip, not much for this poor thing that has gone to Penzance, Hamburg, Antwerp, Porto and Toulouse ; I have a 2001 Smart dci for most daily use ) and scanned errors afterward. And I am now a bit confused...

I am writing this down in the doblo section
