Just found the symbol that this query was going to be asked about, basically what is a yellow * star on the dashboard a warning of. Its blinked at me a couple of times and would like to know what it is.

But, I just found that it means light failure, it came on over a harsh breaking as I came up quick on a road hump and this light flashed on at other times under lesser breaking, it stays off.

Any ideas on what lights it could be as the front lights seemed to be OK, if the problem were breaks then it would flash up every time I break, even in the day, so I ruled breaking lights out of the picture.

Care to speculate.

Its more than likely a bad bulb.
I'd replace both.

Why not - the TV is rubbish tonight anyway.
If the fronts are good check the back. It could be that there is a bulb or plug loose somewhere and hard braking disturbs it enough for the light detector system to wake up.
Sometimes filament bulbs break the filament but it hangs over the internal connectors in such a way that it still works. The odd bump can throw the filament up a bit and the circuit breaks for an instant.
