Hi folks

Just got myself an 08 Grande Punto Sporting (diesel) in metallic black. I really like it so far, much more solid than I expected. Having said that, my wife had a Seicento years ago and was 100% reliable. Hopefully this Punto will be the same! It's the first time I've bought a car that's not Japanese (apart from a Ford Ka a few years back, and the less said about that the better), so I really hope it doesn't blow up. I plan to get it remapped soon, so that probably won't help... Anyway, forum looks good and helpful in case anything does go wrong.

The Fiat Punto (Grande) is the base for quite a few other maker's cars. The closest is the GM Corsa. Service it properly and it will be fine. Most of the bad reputation of older Fiats comes from the neglect abuse that so many older cars suffer.

Right, thanks for letting me know. I'll definitely keep it serviced properly...
I'm surprised it's related to the Corsa, I drove an 09 plate one of them recently and it was horrible! It was a base model 1.2 though, so that's probably got something do with it.
