Folks, typically, since picking up the bucket from it's MOT last week it's thrown up an engine management light 3 or 4 times.


While driving, the engine has "stuttered" very briefly, almost like the brakes have been jabbed and the light has come on along with the message on the display. It's cleared itself a few times then recurred.


Anyway, took it in for a tracking adjustment today and the garage popped it on the code reader and the error code is P0335 Engine Speed Sensor Circuit.


Am I correct in thinking that this is the crank sensor? I hope so as I believe they are a fairly cheap fix..........

Well, after garage reset it and it behaved for a few days, wouldn't start for ages when I picked up my daughter from school, which was bad enough but as I'm on nights tonight could have been a right drama!


Anyway, after about 6 or 7 attempts it started and when I got home I plugged in the OBD2 reader my mate leant me. Same error code, Crankshaft sensor, so I've checked the part no. with the local Fiat garage and ordered a Bosch one form Mr Auto, will get garage to fit it this week. Just hope it starts at half 7 this morning when I get back to the tube station.............Fingers Crossed

If it starts ok from cold but plays up once the engine is warm, sounds like classic failing crank sensor symptoms.
