Hey All.
Does anyone know if the CO2 levels from the JTD are lower for the MultiJet?
Normally the JTD is 173 g/CO2. Is the MultiJet lower or was that only when they added a DPF?
One version has a level of 164 g/CO2.
Just wondering if the multijet, without DPF, is 164 or 173.

Thanks,

Generally we get the same cars in Eire as you get in the UK.
I couldn't see Fiat bothering with differences for such a small market as ours.
Most of the Multiplas here are 1.6 petrol dynamics, very few JTD Eleganzas, which is why I'm importing from the UK.
Just couldn't handle the blue interior with light grey plastic. found a nice dark interior JTDm.
Had seen that on Parkers, but then I got conflicting numbers elsewhere, e.g from your VCA, DVLA etc

I suppose the question is are all the MultiJets 164g CO2, or is it only the ones with a DPF, leaving those without a DPF at 173 gCO2.
Reason is that if I can find documentation to show that all MultiJets are 164 I can save myself a couple hundred quid on importing this car

I've got a 120 with DPF, it has the lower emissions and slightly lower car tax, pretty sure the DPF is the major factor lowering the emissions.
I've had the blue interiors, and always wondered why Fiat didnt change the colours....but and am well pleased with the newer black trim, looks a bit like carbon fibre on the dash, and all feels higher spec, plusher..
BTW the chinese produce a version of the Multipla, check them out on the Google, they seem to have some great interiors!! even leather...

The CO2 rating for a particular car will be given on its V5. When you find what looks like a suitable car, can you not just ask the vendor for that figure?

My Multijet was first registered 11 Sept 2008. On the V5 it shows a C02 figure of 173g/km. However, on Parkers and other sites, cars registered after 1st Sept 2008 show a figure of 164g/km - presumably the date at which DPF's were fitted. Before Sept 2008 the figure is 173g/km. If this is correct, all owners of post Sep 2008 Multijets have been paying too much road tax. Has anyone argued the case with the DVLA?

I have contacted DVLA and they require proof from the manufacturer of the CO2 figure. I guess the likelihood of getting this is slim. FIAT are not known for their fantastic support network or recognition of anything beyond 3 years old. Does anyone have a handbook with the 164g/km figure quoted?

I have a feeling myself as well that the lower CO2 is probably mostly down to the DPF.
So, it is much more likely that my 06 is 173g rather than 164g.
To be honest, I'd rather pay the little bit extra importation tax and not have the problem of a DPF.
What is all the hype about Multijet so? Is there any difference between this and a previous JTD120? Was there a difference in price new?

I've had 4 multis, all diesel and now have a 120 multijet, my partner has a 115 also. I only wanted a newer last of the build multi as I love them and wanted to own one as long as I can...
To be honest I could really do without a DPF, so avoid at all costs, pay a little bit more in tax and get a non DPF 120 if they exist, but there are ways to get around clogged dpfs.
The 115 engine is perfectly fine and drives very well compared to the 120 multijet, and has a good torque/power/driveability balance, however I'm getting about 41mpg (15" alloys) and shes getting @38 (17" alloys) so maybe its more economical? , as I know multis vary enormously in mpg....
BTW the 120 does feel plusher and better sound insulated than earlier versions, and strangely, the front end seems and measures about 1" lower than a 115?

Got the car today.
Very happy with the body and the black interior, but not with the previous owner who didn't service it for god knows how long - flashing oil light on startup which goes out after a few seconds.
Anyway, the V5 says 173g. Had a quick look under it and it seems like there is only one "box" which I assumed was the cat until I noticed the pipe going into the front of it. Is this a DPF? Maybe not, until driving it I noticed a little white LED on the dash with DPF written beside it. Would this light up when it is going through a re-generation?
So, it seems like I have the worst of all worlds, a DPF and higher CO2!

The small DPF light should light when you turn on ignition but go out when its ready to start. As I understand it, it only lights when theres a problem with the DPF.
