Can anyone confirm the size of the main bolt that goes through the rear swing arm on my 2003 multipla? Is it a standard M16 x 220 (ish)?

I am having a new swing arm replaced and my mechanic is having problems getting the old bolt out.

Thanks

Jim

You don't need to replace the whole arm just the bush and bearing and bolt which come in a kit..£18 odd on eBay

The size was definitely m16..but cant remember length..

He will struggle getting the old bolt out. You end up cutting them out most of the time.

Yep...tell him to get the thinnest angle grinder disc that he can..about 0.8mm
Then cut up between the arm and subframe..
Tell him to be very careful of the abs sensor wire as they cost £50
Good luck..
Its a fairly easy job that's turned into a bastard just because the bolt fuses with the outer sleeve!

Second all the previous, now I always use a disc cutter with super thin discs...saves time, frustration, and profuse swearing...
I did read of an urban myth that someone managed to take a bolt out by normal means....

That would be mine . . .

. . . Got the Alligator Saw out ready to hack through the bolt, then, in a sudden an uncharacteristic moment of optimism (I am on my second Multi after all), decided to undo the Nuts and try shifting the Bolts, you know, just for a giggle . . . bu**er-me if they didn't both knock out with just a few blows from my Club Hammer  :thumb . . .
