Technical Removing stereo

Technical Removing stereo

Got some daylight over the weekend, so headed into the Multi.

This time took out the same screws as before, plus the hidden one from behind the cup holder. Now I was able to drop the whole ashtray set down and access underneath the stereo. Took some electricians snips with me, and nibbled the plastic that was holding in that fascia. After some bending and snipping (not too much, I want to be able to put it back!) I finally got it out.

Once it was out, took a look at the stereo itself. This had the usual two holes either side, so I brought out a wire coat-hanger and snipped that down into two pieces above 15cm in length. Bent them over into "u" shapes, and could then use them to lift out the stereo itself. Took out the metal frame too.

When I came to fit the new stereo though two things stood out - firstly, the aerial was a different fitting (so I've ordered a part from ebay http://tinyurl.com/bjl7hd - useful ad as it shows the exact fitting that the Multi has). Secondly, the fascia plate doesn't fit the removeable face of the Pioneer DEH-110E that I'd bought. So that went back to argos, and I've reverted to plan B which was to find second hand Sony MEX-BT2500 which is what I have in my Barchetta. The faceplate for this does fit the Multipla's fascia panel nicely, so this should be OK.

Just waiting for delivery later this week so hopefully I'll have music again later this week!
