Panda (Classic) Charmanda(er) The Panda

Introduction

Name Change! Previously known as Charmania for anyone not in the know, she's had a slight rename, keeping the Char but sticking my favourite childhood Pokemon name in there, Charmander, mainly because the first time I ever encountered a Panda I was about 8 years old and Pokemon was my favourite thing in the whole world.

Some details,
1992 Fiat Panda 750 Mania
769cc FIRE engine.
Lowered 40mm.
Seicento Sporting Front Seats
Side Stripes for faster acceleration
Fiat 127 'Palio' Alloys.
Veglia Rev counter, so I can count my revs.

I washed her, wanted to take her somewhere nice for pictures but it hasn't been sunny for long enough to do that, so I'll get nicer pictures at some point....
Here she is now, Charmanda.

Sorry for the terrible lighting. Can't do much about the sun.
Possibly the best moment of Panda ownership so far,
sitting in a pub garden, Charmanda parked about 20ft away in the carpark, some bloke starts looking round her in admiration, looks through the window "Only 86k, must be garaged, I had one of these when I was young would love one again" continues admiring her.
I couldn't be bothered to go over and chat because I was busy with my pint. Nonetheless it brought me back to reality, made me realise I'm not that crazy for buying a Panda. :D

Not garaged, just polished to within an inch of its life :p. I'm going to have to send you some of my business cards Didge, if you can be bothered ;).

Was he wearing one of those special jackets us panda owners should wear?, the ones were the sleeves attach at the back :p or maybe that should be us multiple panda owners  :D

Charmanda's bottom badge is a bit faded and looks like it's had better days, can I get a replacement of this exact badge, can only seem to find the slightly newer one (found on mk1 and mk2 Puntos) on ebay.

I could paint my current one I guess? If I can get the right colours.

Isn't it this one? 10% FF discount too (y)

Badgy

Ok this might be my worst idea yet....

A while back there was a thread that I remember seeing. The thread was an auction for a spoiler for a Panda, specifically one that goes half way up the tailgate.
I really quite liked it if I'm honest, since then the pictures from the long gone advert have disappeared so only those who remember the thread will know what it looks like.
I doubt I could get one of these spoilers specifically designed for the Panda but I was wondering if anyone knew of any other, mid-tailgate spoilers I could try and mock up to fit?

This could go badly....

For those not sure of what I mean by 'mid-tailgate' look at this VW.

I think it could be a very nice mod :)

Seeing Char' is so nice though I'd get another tailgate in case things don't go quite to plan.

Re-reading the thread it appears someone has one but is too scared to fit it - perhaps they could be persuaded to part with it?

I was really tempted by a roof spoiler but would've meant no roof bars.

If you really want one carry a tape measure with you at all times to check sizes :D

Oooh hadn't noticed that, firstcar-Y10 still got that spoiler?

Not sure where I'd get a spare tailgate....

Might have...;)

....actually, got a tailgate too now I come to think of it. In a pretty sorry state though.

Do you think you could find/spare the spoiler? Although you did mention how many holes it needs for mounting and how heavy it is. Do you think this would actually cause a problem, my tailgate will try and shut in a light breeze let alone with a heavy spoiler attached to it.

Both those considerations are what made me reluctant to fit it actually. Yes it will almost certainly stop your tailgate holding up as it is pretty heavy and of course that weight sits a good way down the tailgate, and yes it takes a lot of holes to fit, can't remember offhand but it's something silly like 9 holes to fit so you've got to be pretty sure you want it on before you start, and you want to get it right first time.
Having said that I was standing at a classic show over at Raby castle at the weekend admiring the back end of an XR2 (I know, I know) with a similar spoiler and thinking 'hmmm, nice, I've got one very like that in the garage' so still not sure I want to part with it yet. I'll never find another one.
Howsabout this:

AX spoiler is a good fit on the Panda, also a popular mod on a R5, therefore the R5 spoiler must fit(y) (probably)

I don't think a new tailgate strut would break the bank would it?

I'm sure I've seen a thread where someone had two fitted-one each side-perhaps that would be possible too?

Only nine holes though - pfffft - I've put twice that in Fizzle :p

Where would that spoiler mount though? I can't quite make sense from the picture, I don't really want a roof/top of the tailgate spoiler, I know what you mean about the XR2, that's exactly what reminded me of this spoiler in the first place, the silly little lip spoiler that goes just under the rear-screen.
