I can no longer deactivate my alarm or open my doors by the remote keyfob, therefore I can not deactivate the alarm, does anyone know of how to deactivate the alarm or reset it?

on mk1 models there is an alarm master switch on the interior fusebox. it looks like a small lock. you need a round barrel key to switch it, which is supplied with the car when new.

if the red LED on the key is no longer flashing when you push the button the you need to replace the batteries asap, otherwise the remote wont work when you replace the batteries because it will be out of sync with the car.

Mine is a year 2001 and it has the lock thing with a key so I gather they must have put them back on

disconnect the battery for two hours but make sure you have your radio code. It will reboot your system

Someone had the same problem on there Alfa, they did it by disconnecting the battery for 30 mins and they also touched the +ve and -ve cables together to completely expell any current from the system.
