Hi,

I have lost my only 1996 Fiat Cinquecento blue car key and I did not get the red master key when I bought it.

I have gone to my local Fiat centre and they have told me that I have to buy a new central locking system, car inmovilisser and set of keys. 750 pounds!!

I am just terrified about it!

Does any one have any idea to help me?

Thanks very much,

GA

you can buy a 2nd hand ECU with red key and locks, your only problem is finding one, personally i think you would be easier sourcing a whole car(MOT failure, write off)and salvaging the parts you need.too late now but you should have got a cloned blue key and thus you would have had your two keys.maybe someone will have a better idea but i think your gonna take a hit to the wallet:(

cant u just replace the locks? or is the locking system more advanced than that on a pug 106 or somethin heh...

my sister lost all her keys so i smashed the window, opened the car, replaced the ignition barrel and all the locks and it was all done... replaced the window... cost about £90

Gaizka: A friend of mine purchased an accident damaged FIAT Punto last year with no keys. He had the ECU decoded (£125.00) and took the lock barrel to his local locksmith and got a key cut (£18.00), I'm not sure if the prices were inclusive or exclusive of vat. The downside is that the FIAT code system is no longer active, the upside is that is much cheaper than replacing the ECU, locks etc which I understand is nearly £1000 (according to what my friend told me at the time). You could always fit an engine immobiliser as well at a later date.
