I had one of those pandas. The heap would not die no matter what abuse I gave it. After the MOT ran out I used it in a field and taught the step kids to drive. They rallied it until they broke the gear shift linkage then a scap yard gave me £70 for it. I bought it for 200 with a full MOT so was worth every penny.

Some may be offended by that but I did something similar. My first two cars were MkI Panda 4x4's I used parts from one to keep the MSA happy. When the trials car was sold on I used the spares car in a field until the transfer box gave up. I scrapped it and bought two MkI Escorts. One was going to be my first road car 1300L and the other had a 1600 Harrier engine from a MkII and was used in the field until I hit a yump I dug out for the Panda and rolled it. I should have kept the 1600 as the 1300 was rotten as a Halloween pumpkin this time of year. One rolled and the other rustier than the Titanic both were scrapped.

A 1970 1300L like my car sold a King;s Lynn car auctions last year for £14,000 :bang:

A 1972 1600 rally car (even with the Harrier engine) would be worth close to that or more now.

Your £200 Fantasia would now be worth between £1500 and £3000 and being one of the rarest models I'm restoring mine back to standard.

To be honest LK I did enjoy having the wee thing. It was an end of life car that was bought to get by. It did everything I ask if it and may have deserved more from its final year but I did wash it now and then. :D
