So the m-jet had started getting a noisy gearbox which my warranty does cover bearings and seals in the box ect have checked that .

My question is to you guys have any of you claimed a RAC warranty successfully or had issues and could give me any pointers what to do , get it in now before it stops totally or wait for the gearbox to go bang and then had it recovered by the RAC ? I have heard they are funny with paying when the fault isn't a "breakdown failure " for example , somone rings them saying there tensioner is faulty they returned and said it hasn't failed so wouldn't pay out logged the claim and refused to pay when it finally did fail !

What should i do ? Box whines 1st/2nd , and makes a bad noise like a collapsed bearing in 5th at 40/50mph only

So hope to hear some good words about these guys !

Thanks

These warantees are not worth the paper they are written on, however I used to work for a company that sold these and if you as a customer tried to claim more often than not would fail, if we claimed on behalf of the customer as the dealership generally they would always payout.

Something to bare in mind

Think again - I'm good friends with an owner of an independant garage and they do 3-5 jobs a week on these kind of policies and never have any problems as long as the car has full service history.

This isn't 'thinking' I used to book the work and deal with the warantee company as well as have to deal with the complaints from the customers who had been refused their claims,

The warantee also usually doesn't cover anything electrical or anything consumable so clutches, brakes vicious couples on small 4x4s tyres, cambelts and chains, etc. they would also try to put off any claims for bearings (wheel) pumps like oil and water and would often argue these parts were consumables.

There are different levels of cover depending what the dealership offers, our company sold thousands of cars a year accross the uk so had a special deal with the warantee company and they would still reject a lot of things.

The policy usually states they will only pay out if the breakdown results in the imobilisation of the vehicle. It is also amazing what they will put down to 'normal wear and tear'

There a pain , I think my bet option is to call them and not reveal my details see oft claim would be valid (it covers what has failed ) but depends of they work on the inoblisation get out clause ,

Then if they say that would all be valid I'll send it to main dealer who sells the RAC warrantys for the work

And your right I've had it just over a month but the seller tried selling me a knock off warranty , so I took it out my self from my work . But they don't want me to claim it from there which is weird .
