Punto or Getz?

Punto or Getz?

lol, and I won't argue with the rabbit! I never said it was a good engine! Just pointing it out that Fiat used similar.

so it has one big valve, and two smaller.. again.. not seeing the real point, unless it was just to say it had 12v rather than 8v.. and like liam said, just use the one cam

The experience I've had with Hyundi is based on the Matrix, a smallish people carrier thing. We had one for a few days in Norway as a hire car - booked a Golf, got the Matrix. Anyway, there seemed to be plently of goodies for an entry level car (heated seats!), and I was pretty sure it was a diesel until the first evening when I looked at the manual to see, and it was the 1.6 petrol! It was a rough engine, which drank a fair bit of fuel. We did 1000kms in 4 days, up and down mountains etc (heated seats were quite useful!). I found that my back ached after about 30 mins driving, which compares to about 2 hours in the Punto. It was bareable at best, and I wonder if the Getz is any better.

I suggest trying out the Panda and looking on the web (eg carhound) to see what kind of price you can get them or a Punto for. And mention that to your Fiat dealer - they can discount off a new car, give them some proof - they want your business!

The Punto won in ourcase, but that was down to the deal the dealer gave, a 0% finance deal. Anything else, like the Panda, and getz where on standard dealer rates while the Picanto was on a special 5.5% rate. They really didnt get a look in to be honest

DONT GET THE MICRA!!!!!! I had one, and yes initially I thought how well made it was, but, it soon rattled more than any Fiat, suspension gave loads of trouble, bits fell off, seats broke and had more recalls than anything. They still are having loads of warranty issues, electrics, bootlocks, water leaks being some. Just avoid it.
If you really dont want another Fiat and want a well made and reliable good car, then buy a Skoda Fabia. Just forget those Korean heaps!

Ordered a 16v Dynamic today, so decision made!

Apparently the Dynamic spec has just been upgraded and now included Alloys. Not sure if thats only upgrade?

Nissan's build quality has gone down the s***ter since they merged with/were taken over by Renault... eh Paul? ... :p

Still made in the same places.....as are Renaults. Major differences are that they share the dealer network.

Having said that, I don't know where they make the new Micra?

*goes to check*

Yep, as I thought, you ready for it? I believe it's the UK at their sunderland plant!

Renault are very protective about their production facilities in France and as far as I am aware, don't like sharing much.

Renault have a 49% interest in Nissan now. Nissan UK sources its components almost wholey in Europe as well, sharing many parts with Renault. Renault have insisted Nissan cut its production costs and speed up productivity. The result is far more interesting cars to lok at such as the Micra, Primera and 350Z but reliability has suffered badly as has quality. Ask any Nissan fan what they think of the new cars! Interestingly, Nissan in Japan still use Japanese sourced components and as such the Japanese built Micras; known as the March; are far better. The Micra had a very short development time and is also the fastest built car in Europe, however its widely regarded as being a test bed for Renault, as they will be using the platform for the next Clio.... As a tailpiece, when I had my Micra the dealer workshop who had to keep dealing with the record number of faults and recalls said, we never had trouble until they put French crap in them!!!

Someone on another forum was saying any that had SJN as its chassies number was sunderland made while JJN was the japan made ones. He followed that up with Avoid all SJN models and only touch a JJN as the build quality was much higher.

Good one on the Punto btw :)

The current generation of the Micra must be the ugliest car in the world. The Renault Modus is the same car underneath and the Clio 3 will also share the platform. The wholme Nissan range in Europe is ugly. these cars are not sold in Japan or the USA. In America they have another range of ugly cars that are exclusive over there. Don't roll into a Nissan dealer with an Altima or a Quest MPV!
