i've just been talking with the neighbours about their new car a Seat somthing or other.
anyway we ended up talking about my croma that i've just sold. they asked me what am i getting next then chuckled to themself and said "another bloody Fiat" followed by "why do i like them so much 'cus they aint much cop"

(i found this rude i've never said anything like that about their SEAT's and i don't even like the look of modern Seat's.)

i asked them "how do you know what Fiats are like when you've never owned one" and "have you in all the time you've known me ever see my cars go wrong or anything to make you think the're (not much cop)"
you know their answer was "i don't need to have owned one, it's common knowledge that they are always going wrong and rust into a million bits"

my point of this thread is that i know Fiat has a somewhat poor reputation in this country but i didn't think people still perceive Fiats as always go wrong and that they rust to bits.
i haven't even seen a rusty Fiat in years' and i've never had any really bad problems with my ones.

is this country all a bunch of snobs and badge happy and why am i worked up about this anyway!
sorry rant over now...

It's like if someone says you've got an ugly baby - you might know that fine well but it's your baby and they have no right to be rude. I've been having this arguement for the last couple of years with my brother and his mate - but they spend almost everyday welding up rusty patches on land rovers or replacing seized engines in a golf, while I pootle along with a warm, fuzzy feeling in my tummy :D

thats it theres a guy up the road from me and he is always welding his escort.
guess Fiat has an uphill struggle to change peoples view of the company

I currently have a somewhat rusty Fiat, so can't comment on that bit positively lol

However, like any car, if looked after they're very reliable. I love my lil' Punto, sure, it's had it's fair share of breakdowns this year - but to be fair it's gone from an average of 5000 miles p/year to doing 12000 this year. It's also suffered the harsh winter (being on the coast and all the salt on the road has taken its toll on my rear jacking points/front sills :(). That and it is my first car, soo, a little rough treatment probably hasn't helped .

Have any of the problems made me consider getting rid and getting something different? Nope!! Crackin' little car :D

Same i learnt my lesson of keeping crap tyres on, i spent a fortune reparing the damage, i have an endless oil leak but I still love the car and keep looking at another Punto but havnt the heart to get rid of my current one!

i get comments at work by vw drivers mainly, how there amazed i got into work cos i drive a punto and whats wrong with it this week (though iv never complained on anything about her before) etc etc. i just laugh and think at the end of the day you pay your stupid elevated prices for your vw's cos its people like you thats helping keep fiat prices down for me (y) and i know for a fact my grande is more stylish, almost as quick (which is bad for them as mines a 1.3d and theres a 1.9d) and no worse quality than there vw :D
ps i dont have anything against vw drivers or vw's :p
