Hi, We are in the process of purchasing a fiat seicento for our daughter who will be learning to drive shortly, anyway my question is it is advertised as manual and when we went to view it it had clutch and gears as we expected lol. However on arrival home we thought we had better check out the insurance and on putting in the reg plate it comes up with citymatic! Now i thought citymatics didnt have a clutch!! Please can you help me out here. I want to make sure the car is what we think. I called the people and they said it has citymatic on the v5 and they thought citymatic was just a name or type.
SO can anyone on here help me out please
P.S It is a 1999 T reg Fiat Seicento 899cc
All help much appreciated
Tess

probably been converted to a manual at some point
if it has a clutch then its manual

:yeahthat:

most got converted to manual as the thing that made the clutch work automatically always broke.

It will have to be declared on insurance as being modified, so may well be more to insure than a normal manual

Cheers guys, thats what i thought,we got a quote with the modification and it increases the premium by £300! Have spoken to the seller and there are no changes or modifications on the v5,not sure what to do now

don't buy it. If the seller didn't bother to mention something like that, what else has he not told you about? What will you do when it is time to sell it? Tell the truth and risk losing the sale or lie about it and hope your buyer doesn't check?

Its interesting to see that he didn't tell the DVLA so he clearly isn't worried about breaking the law. When a change of this type is made the DVLA can insist on an independent engineers inspection before they will register the car. They don't always do it for small things like this but if they do isnist it will cost a fair amount. Its a sure bet that the seller won't pay.

There are lots of small fiats out there that will be a better buy than this one.
