hey there boys and girls....

ive owned undiag and alfa diag for a while now,to use on my alfa 156 JTD but ive never ever been able to get unidiag to work, even in the slightest

now ive been fixing my next door neighbours fiat punto MK2 X reg 1.2 16v and ive done all the work i can on the mechanical side, now i said said ill plug in my laptop to see if there is anything wrong, but ive just remembered i dont know how to use unidiag?????

can anyone help me to use it?????

oh P.S. will alfa diag work on this punto????

thanks

first you will need a kkl-interface cable, but I reckon you have one seeing how you tried but couldn't get it to work. Then you will have to correctly install the driver of this usb cable. It will then display as a com port in your windows control panel --> hardware --> device manager --> ports as something along the lines of usb to com port blah blah. Note the number of this port because unidiag will need to know this number. Have the cable plugged in when you check for this info.

Now plug in the cable in your car and move the carkey one position till the check lights on your dash come on. Now open unidiag open the correct defenition file for your car and go to the connect tab and set the com port number correctly. Then press start comm and start+id. Sometimes it will take a couple tries to connect on my punto 1.2 16v for some unknown reason.

Hopefully this will help you in getting it to work.

def file is called Fiat80_16V_M155_1242.def its not perfect but it should do the trick, some of the sensor values display wrong when you read them out, but codes can be read and cleared fine.

Doesnt matter which ones you press first, I think... atleast I have never really understood the difference :p just keep trying till on that page you see numbers and letters appear on the dashed lines that say keyword received.

If it still doesnt work you can try to put all the buffers on low in the properties tab of the com port in windows device manager. This sometimes can improve communication, but I have not needed it in the past.
