i would like to apologize for posting this thread here in a general comment portion of this forum, it is not my intention to so but i can't seek immediate help otherwise.

my father has a 1981 fiat spyder 2000 pininfarina EFI which had a blown fuel pump. on our task to replace the fuel pump we both became a little impatient and accidently reversed the polarity to the new fuel pump during installation. (eaaak) amongst completion we started to prime the fuel pump but the pump would not only sound like it primed, but it wouldnt stop running. eventually something burned out and we lost power to the pump. (using a voltmeter).

the headlights and dashlights have also lost power, but the starter is still alive and working. now we notice where the fuse for the headlights and such are (8-amp fuses under the drivers side console) but discover the fuel pump's 16-amp fuse is in another location all together. (confirmed by the user manual as well)

i am looking for the location of the fuel pump fuse or relay, or anything else which we might have burnt out doing our little mishap.

i would like to thank everyone for listening and helping in advance! :)

no worry. found the fuse.. inline 16 gauge behind the fuse box. relay was on the other side. blown fuel pump fuse.

new pump works great, and finally after 2 years of hibernation the 81 spyder is in action. and only 46,000 original miles! :)
