Re: Where to buy paint compressor

Bit small, minimum requirement is about 7CFM. However it depends on the spraygun you use. A small compressor simply won't run a gun designed for a powerful air supply. The old binks bullows 222 was ideal for little compressors, don't know if you can still get them.

Remember though, you will need some kind of mask, paint dust does your lungs a power of no good.

You also need some way ofgetting water out of the airline, frankly for a single panel, it'll be cheaper to get someone to paint it for you, not to mention safer.

Re: Where to buy paint compressor

I agree, spec for at least 7cfm, more the better.

You'll want at least 50L or ideally 100L receiver size to prevent you having to stop and refill all the time.

You can get guns that use upto 3cfm, but you still need overhead, and a pro type (HVLP) gun will definately need more capacity than 3cfm.

Re: Where to buy paint compressor

just use the gun on low pressure thus solving all the problems just takes longer.. to solve the water problem get an air blower and make sure its clear before u use the gun or get a filter system.

Machine Mart. But the issue isn't buying the equipment so much as learning how to use it properly.

I'd advise college or chatting up a friendly local spay shop who may either do work for nowt or let you use their kit in exchange for you doing monkey work.

Failing that, bigger hire shops will hire you the kit. Be advised -- if you've not been already -- that many current paints are extremely toxic.

for a start i wouldnt buy a basic one after experience but if your on a budget it will do :D

you want at least a 25 litre tank, 100 would be better and mean youve always got air

you need at least 1.5hp or your gonna be waiting ages for it to fill the tank which gets highly annoying after a while a 2.0 or eevn 2.5hp would be loads better but then your talking over £200 easy:eek:

remember you will need a compressor, spray gun i would recomend a gravity fed as find them easier to use and less paint wastage you will also need about 3 metres of air line hose preferably the thick industrial rubber variety with metal connectors not the plastic sh*t which breaks and looses you pressure :bang: and most important of all a good quality spray mask such as a 3M one with replaceable filters not some cheap dust mask they DONT work:rolleyes:

any more questions just ask :)

alot of money yes but your basically using trade gear here so with practice and skill you will get a trade finnish job and depending how much work you do you will be saving money:D

go your local paint supplier they usually sell them or can recomend a place

if your on a budget but want a reasonaly job budget on a total of about £200
